"Are you kidding?" Hal took his legs off the table and leaned forward excitedly. "He ran off with Starman. How could he possibly come back?"
"Then tell me, what other path does he have besides coming back?" Su Ming calmly asked in return, rolling the smoke around in his mouth.
Hal vigorously rubbed his face, then scratched his ear. "Maybe he and Starman have some other plan."
"No. They don't have the ability to make a backup plan while making a grand plan." Su Ming spread his hands, leaning back in his chair as he flicked ash from his cigarette. "It's not that The Forger lacks intelligence. He just lacks strategic and tactical literacy. Put a scientist on a battlefield, and his strategic vision might not even be as good as an Austrian Corporal's."
Oliver lit a cigarette as well. He took off his hood and idly ran a hand through his hair.
"That makes sense. Starman is an alien prince, and The Forger is a blacksmith. Judging from their previous plans, they're both the type with lofty ambitions but little ability."
Hal trusted Oliver more readily. After all, they were buddies in green tights. He blew out a breath and leaned back in his chair. "Then I don't understand. If he has nowhere else to go, why did he take Starman away?"
"His personality determined it. His avoidant personality makes fleeing his first response whenever he faces a problem."
Seeing that Hal did not smoke, Su Ming slid a bottle of Da Li Soda over to him. The Justice League did not even allow drinking water or eating during meetings. It was downright inhumane.
Superheroes were people too. There was not even a ring of white porcelain mugs on the table. What kind of meeting was this?
