Earth-0, New York.
As one of the United States' premier major cities, it was naturally a key area under the Superheroes' protection. At least there were no large-scale riots or street battles in the streets.
In an empty old bar, a man with shoulder-length hair sat alone before the battered, aged counter, silently drinking a bottle of liquor given to him by friends.
Starman had indeed gone to the Justice Society, hoping they would join him in taking action and replace the Justice League in saving the world or something.
However, the retired Heroes said they no longer had much fighting strength. Old-age ailments had left several of them unable to get out of their Wheelchairs, so it was better to follow the Justice League's arrangements now.
Still, they had not forgotten their old friendship. In consideration of their past bond, they gave the low-spirited Starman several bottles of liquor.
Alcohol was extremely valuable in the current apocalypse. Who knew how many people wished they could die anesthetized, without pain or fear.
Yet for most people, that was no more than a luxury.
A bottle of hard liquor was now in short supply, let alone the several bottles the old members of the Justice Society had given Starman—enough to knock him senseless.
They had probably heard that Starman had had an unpleasant falling-out with the Justice League. They only hoped their old friend could find somewhere to calm down alone, or drink himself to sleep.
Having failed to persuade his former companions to come out of retirement, Starman could only carry his liquor through the empty streets, looking for an old supplier to buy some "leaves" on credit.
In truth, his old supplier was now too old to walk, but once you loved a trade, you loved it for life.
