Near noon the next day, Wade, refreshed and clear-headed, and Thor, lost in thought, both left the Hellfire Club. Walking along the golden beach and looking at the tall palm trees swaying in the sea breeze beneath the blazing sun, Wade generously offered to treat Thor to food.

He had "eaten" a little too much last night. He needed some barbecue or something for breakfast to replenish himself. He felt like his back was about to break.

"How do you think I should make money?"

Amid the sound of the waves, Thor suddenly swept back his long hair, picked at the sleep in his eyes, and voiced his question. He had been pondering it ever since last night.

There was no currency circulating within Asgard, but as a Prince, he knew that Odin used gold as bargaining chips when trading with Aliens.

In the old Vanaheim, Gullveig's territory followed the same model. Internally, they promoted a system of honor; externally, they traded with gold.

The only difference was that before Vanaheim went to war, the queen would distribute some gold to the soldiers. It was meant for enchanting their armor, though it was not actually much use—just meant to make them look more impressive.

But Vanaheim changed later, several decades ago. The people there began circulating currency internally, then underwent Alien industrialization.

It was not technology from the Asgardian system. Asgard's technology and energy both came from Yggdrasil, forming a self-contained whole.

Vanaheim's technological system was more like a patchwork assembled from Aliens throughout the universe, then manufactured using Earth's production methods. Its economic system was even more like turning the entire nation into employees of the Sorcerer Supreme Deathstroke.

Thor did not understand much of that. Loki had told him what little he knew while they drank and chatted,
