The massacre that took place beyond the multiverse came and went in that silent void like the giant silhouette of Darkseid, but the brilliant light also drew the attention of quite a few who could observe it.
Such as the Justice League, the inhuman Luthor, and the Monitor and Anti-Monitor in a higher dimension.
But all they saw was the red light and fragments of the void.
One being, however, reviewed the Timeline afterward and saw the entire course of events. That being was Fijitne, the Time God, who was also a god yet had always worked diligently to maintain the boundaries of time and dimensions within the multiverse.
The Essence Society had not lasted even a few seconds before Darkseid. Although there had been an element of ambush, the Dark Tyrant seemed to have stripped away the gods' stories, or forcibly drawn an end to them.
As a worker within the multiverse, Fijitne could not leave Multiverse 1. Even though he had witnessed that attack and watched those pallid corpses be erased, it had happened beyond the multiverse. There was nothing he could do.
The Time Gods were observers and maintainers, not warriors or interveners.
Yet he also understood that the true Darkseid had returned, that the Dark Tyrant had become whole once more. If no way could be found to stop him, then perhaps the Essence Society's fate would be the best possible outcome.
Far more likely, everyone would be controlled by the Anti-Life Equation and turned into brainwashed slaves, contributing to Darkseid's ambitions.
But what exactly did the Dark Tyrant want? He was already so powerful. What else could he possibly desire?
Fijitne could not understand. The other's level had already surpassed his own. It was like an ant being unable to comprehend what humans were doing.
