With a click, the button was pressed. Darkseid awaited the release that would come when the void swallowed him as well.
Nothing happened. The battlefield was eerily quiet, save for the crisp, pleasant sound of Vulcan's Sword hitting the ground after being blocked by the Omega Field.
"I said! Farewell!"
Maintaining his defenses, Darkseid pressed the button again.
"Click."
That was it. Aside from the sound of metal striking metal, nothing happened.
"Click click click click."
He frowned and began frantically pressing the button, but the Mother Box seemed to have malfunctioned. Forget detonating a bomb—the box itself was practically cracking apart.
Barry retreated back to Deathstroke in a flash of lightning. Unable to break through the Dark Tyrant's Omega Field, he could only come back and ask what was going on.
"Slade?"
"Ah, I had a plan all along." Su Ming calmly hooked an arm around The Flash's neck, pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and enjoyed Darkseid's baffled expression. "Did you think I punched Hal through the center of the planet just for fun? Think about it. What happens when a White Lantern crashes through the Black Lantern Central Power Battery?"
The Flash slapped his thigh in sudden realization and said with a grin, "Black and white light are opposing energies of the same level. If Hal smashed through the Black Lantern Central Power Battery, that thing must be ruined."
Just like acid-base neutralization, positive and negative particle annihilation, or the neutralization of the Speed Force and Still Force.
As a scientist, Barry could think of countless real-world examples from chemistry, physics, and other fields. They were currently in the Reality Dimension, so they had to follow the rules of reality.
