The silent journey underwater was getting to Aphra. With nothing to entertain herself—she didn't even have a portable music player like Star-Lord's—she could only pass the time by chatting.
It was rather pitiful when she thought about it. Space travel sounded wonderful, but without enough to do, it could be a real slog.
Outside a spaceship, there was only silence, broken now and then by a meteorite brushing against the shields. Underwater was far better. At least there were fish.
"Wow, that's a huge fish!"
Aphra tugged Deathstroke's arm and pointed at a giant creature swimming toward them. She looked astonished and wanted her employer to see it too.
She'd never had a chance to go underwater like this before. It was a novel experience for her, and for Harley as well.
"It sure is. That's a big fish." Su Ming didn't answer, but Harley grinned, slipped an arm around Aphra's shoulders, and leaned in to whisper, "Do you like them big or small?"
The archaeologist shivered and swallowed. She liked beautiful women, sure, but Dr. Quinzel was impossible to warm to.
She was too crazy, with a darkness about her that was hard to put into words. It was as if "I'm trouble" were written all over her face. Besides, she was Deathstroke's woman. Aphra preferred to keep her distance.
Big or small? The doctor shook her head, pretending not to understand. "I have no idea what you mean. Gulp."
"Hee hee hee. We're both little minxes, so why pretend? You know exactly what I mean." Her reaction only amused Harley more. She kept making suggestive remarks and blowing into Aphra's ear.
"Eek! I don't understand, and that's that. Boss? Your personal doctor is hitting on me, but I have nothing but heartfelt respect for her. Respect."
Aphra felt
