Needless to say, Deathstroke rejected Lucifer's party invitation without a second thought. He was just an ordinary man and had none of those supernatural perversions.
Lucifer shook his head and walked toward the shop entrance with his drink in hand, looking somewhat regretful. "Your loss. But since we ran into each other here, as a public-spirited resident of Los Angeles, I can tell you this: the magic that injured Zatanna came from beyond the multiverse."
Without waiting for Deathstroke's response, he burst into a cloud of crimson flames with a pop and vanished, leaving only the scent of sulfur lingering in the air.
"Eek?"
"Don't mind him. It's one in the morning on the West Coast—not too early, not too late—just when Lucifer gets bored. He showed up because he sensed my arrival." Deathstroke took out a cigarette, leaned against the counter, and drew on it as he looked at the tattered human skin in the pool of blood. "The information he gave us is interesting, though. Was he saying that even he didn't notice when the killer committed the murder?"
If that was true, things had gotten interesting. Aside from Brutus, who could appear and disappear without warning, there was now an outsider who was also a master of magic?
But he had Strangle, so he never needed to worry about his back. With Cloak around, he did not need to divide his attention to resist magic either.
For now, he should find Diana and the others first and see whether Bobo had any other theories. Little Lucky Ape had spent his life in the Magic World, after all, and might have a different line of thought.
"Eek." Strangle cried out in agreement with
