The sea breeze swept over the cliffs, carrying a salty, fishy scent. Zorn pointed at the gradually calming waves in the distance and changed the subject.
"What were those things you were fighting just now?"
"No idea. Deathstroke said fight, so we fought." Arthur patted his scaled armor, its golden surface reflecting fine, corn-kernel-like glints of light. "Those things were pretty troublesome. Good thing this was the sea. If they got onto land, I'd have a hard time dealing with them."
He was telling the truth. In the sea, he was the nearly omnipotent King of the Seven Seas. Not only were his strength and speed amplified to terrifying levels, but he also had the trump card of summoning marine life.
Even Superman could not swim faster than him in the ocean. That was the home-field advantage of the Atlanteans.
On land, however, things were different. Arthur might have been a little dense, but he knew his own limits. Once on land, he probably could not even beat Green Arrow.
"Deathstroke told me they were Hex, an Ancient Remnant unique to his Earth." Barry gave a proper explanation. Smiling, he high-fived Arthur to celebrate their successful teamwork. "These things wanted to invade land and threaten humanity, so we had to stop them. They're kind of like Elemental Creatures, but also kind of like robots."
It was precisely because they were not living creatures that Barry had fought without the slightest hesitation. With the Speed Force unleashed at full power, the Hex had barely been able to fight back.
In truth, these things called Hex were an inorganic version of the Eternals. Meanwhile, the more commonly recognized radical faction of the Eternals was dying one by one somewhere beyond Barry's sight. Although Deathstroke had left 40K Earth, his friends and subordinates
