"Long time no see, Kara." Supergirl could only stare blankly as Deathstroke and Harley played at dismembering the corpses, looking as though her entire worldview had been shattered. Little Dai could not bear it and gently took her by the shoulders, turning the girl around and pulling her into an embrace. "Don't look over there. I can't talk Slade out of it either. What's done is done."
"Wonder Woman." Supergirl looked aggrieved, the corners of her little mouth drooping. "I just wanted to save everyone. Why couldn't I do it? Boohoo."
Perhaps she usually suppressed her emotions too much. The moment she saw Diana, a member of the Justice League, it was as if she had found an outlet. She buried her face against Diana's shoulder and began to cry.
"No, sister. What matters isn't whether you succeeded, but whether you tried." Diana gently patted Kara's back, doing her best to comfort her. "You did well enough already. This wasn't something you could have prevented. It wasn't your fault. Slade may have been a little heavy-handed, but this was still one way to resolve it."
If Deathstroke had not been here and Diana had encountered this alone, she probably would have cut off one hand from each of those black men as punishment.
But if necessary, she could kill too. It was just that her standards for judging whether someone deserved to die differed from her boyfriend's.
Come to think of it, Su Ming had a grading system too: euthanasia, miserable death, and Kick the Bucket.
These black robbers before them had probably only reached the euthanasia tier. That proved Deathstroke might not have killed them out of hatred; he truly just thought their rap skills were terrible.
