The earlier brief invasion of ancient creatures had still caused considerable damage—and, naturally, plenty of fear. A no-fly zone had been established over the White House. As the helicopter passed the Washington Monument, a military call came over the radio, ordering them to land immediately for inspection or be shot down.

"Your world's military is pretty polite." The gorilla's claws remained steady on the controls as he continued flying, chatting with Mindy in the back seat. "In our world, they'd probably launch surface-to-air missiles first and warn you afterward."

"That's because they don't want to get involved in anything." Hit-Girl munched on snacks as she looked through the glass at the chaotic city below. Many buildings now looked as if they had been trampled by countless Bigfoots. "Even when the city was a complete mess before, I never saw them deploy. They probably think the same way as the police: better to avoid trouble whenever possible."

Washington D.C. was different from New York. There were no skyscrapers soaring into the clouds here; a building over ten stories tall was already considered high. Apparently, that was why terrorists had flown to New York to crash into buildings back then.

"Not getting involved is actually pretty nice. Back on Earth-0, dealing with the authorities was the biggest hassle. This gorilla doesn't meddle in that stuff, but I often saw Superman explaining himself to people from the Department of Defense, ARGUS, the DEO, the United Nations, the Environmental Protection Agency, animal welfare societies, and so on."

The gorilla laughed by the end of it. Superman was simply too good-tempered. Anyone could jump in his face and question him, and he still had the patience to explain things to every last one of them.

Let them try that with Deathstroke instead. He'd probably twist
