The world was pitch-black, the sky dim, but it was not entirely devoid of other colors.
The group walked across land that looked as though it had been scorched by raging flames, leaving nothing but charred earth. Yet within the dense storm clouds overhead, flashes of lightning in all colors occasionally flickered.
Sometimes, red lightning sprang from the clouds like a lurking venomous snake flicking out and retracting its forked tongue. At other times, there was only a faint electric glow, illuminating a patch of dark clouds as though a lighter had been lit behind a layer of cotton.
