After beating up a monster, they chatted casually for a while, ate barbecue, and drank some alcohol. The night had not been too hard to get through.
As for the pet they needed to find for Mera, that was easy enough. They simply used Quantum Concepts to scan Earth, then after eating, swam purposefully in that direction and soon "happened" to run into one.
They chose an Elemental Creature that looked somewhat like an aquatic slime. It was blue all over, soft and bouncy to the touch, and felt quite nice.
Elemental Creatures could be kept as pets too. At least, this one looked pretty good. It could transform itself and even understand English, making it far superior to ordinary pets.
The two men had come out to pick a gift, so what they chose naturally reflected straight-guy aesthetics. Still, Su Ming thought it was great. This was the one.
Mera was a sea witch who used water magic. Her Hard Water magic was particularly distinctive, and as a spellcaster, she naturally had a favorable impression of pure energy beings like Elemental Creatures.
The Parliament of Life and the Parliament of Elements both held considerable status on Earth. Among fire, water, earth, and wind, water ranked second. If a Water Elemental was raised well, it was not impossible for it to eventually develop into something like the Flood Demon.
Some people might find slime-like creatures disgusting, thinking they were covered in mucus and such, but if it was raised underwater, that would not be a problem.
They had found this group near an undersea volcano. Su Ming picked out a relatively small one, probably a juvenile, and the two of them caught it, ready to call it a day.
Since Arthur still had to hurry back to Mercy Harbor, and
