"Adjutant, can you hear me?"

Once the thought struck him, Su Ming acted. If Insomnia really had slipped into his cousin's dream, that was a mouse climbing into the pot to ruin Nurgle's soup. The thought almost made him laugh.

"Communications are stable, Sheriff. What are your orders?" The Adjutant's voice sounded distant and ethereal, but her words were as clear as ever. "I can see Strangle using your body to rummage through Harley's fridge. Should I activate the contingency plan to stop him?"

She delivered that grim sentence so lightly. Apparently, she had secretly drawn up a plan to counter Strangle without anyone knowing.

Su Ming had once asked her to prepare plans for various extreme situations he might face. What if he went out for a little fun, only to return and find 40K Earth had exploded, leaving him homeless?

Most of her plans, though, were world-ending schemes or practical jokes based on the resources and abilities they had at their disposal. Even Deathstroke had never heard about her plan for dealing with Strangle.

Better not to ask. Once he returned to reality, Strangle would know whatever he learned. If the details were too dark, they might strain the bond between the Adjutant and Strangle.

"Ahem. Leave him be. Harley's fridge has nothing important in it, just cake and 'cat food.'"

The Sorcerer Supreme, cigarette between his lips, changed the subject. Cats preferred meat most of the time anyway, and some of the food Harley had brought home contained human heads that were a pain to dispose of. If Strangle ate them, that would save them from taking out the trash.

"Check on 40K Earth for me. What's my dear cousin Wade doing right now? Is he having a nightmare?"
