"Was that Insomnia?"
While Harley was talking to the mysterious voice, in another tiny dream not far behind her, a man and a cat were also conversing. It was something the human had asked the little animal.
The Adjutant speaking to Harley was not the real Adjutant, but something Harley had imagined into existence within her dream.
She seemed to possess some of Dream's talent. Ordinary people did not have such strong control over their own dreams.
"Not him, Deathstroke. Be patient." Dream of a Thousand Cats washed its face with a paw, skillfully turning its head. "Insomnia isn't that weak, nor is he that stupid. Still, I'm a little surprised that this nightmare could produce that book, meow."
"Mm. That book involves a tiny fragment of The Source's secrets, but that's all." Su Ming withdrew his Lightsaber, lit another cigarette, and took a light puff. "It has no additional power, nor does it possess conceptual authority. To ordinary people, it is undoubtedly either pure fantasy or a tool that drives people mad."
It was like an ordinary person living a regular nine-to-five life, only for a big bald Black man to suddenly appear one day, holding out two pills and asking them to choose.
He told them that real life was fake, that everyone was trapped in a dream woven by a terrifying AI, and that taking the pill would wake them to face that cruel reality.
What would people choose?
Humans were curious, and mundane lives always made people want to escape. So they would most likely be willing to give it a try. Before that, though, they would call the police or contact a psychiatric hospital and have that bald Black man committed.
Going around telling people reality was fake was undoubtedly a symptom of Delusional Disorder.
