The windowless room contained only the sound of breathing. A mattress lay directly on the floor, its cartoon blanket slowly rising and falling with each breath.
Someone was sleeping on the mattress. Judging by the rhythm of his breathing, he was deeply asleep.
The door suddenly opened a crack, and a slender figure slipped in from outside. The brief light illuminated the Spider Web behind the door, making the little eight-legged creature scuttle a few steps before everything returned to darkness.
Faint footsteps sounded within the room, mostly the noise of clutter on the floor brushing against metal.
The figure stood silently before the mattress, seemingly trying to make out the person lying there. Yet the atmosphere was deeply eerie, like a killer in a horror movie.
Several minutes passed, but the figure remained motionless, standing there like a wooden carving and leaving an even darker patch in the darkness.
"Diana, don't look at me like that."
The person on the mattress suddenly sat up, clutching his forehead. Looking utterly exhausted, he spoke in a deeply helpless tone.
"Are you awake?"
Diana took off her hood, folded her arms across her chest, and spoke softly.
Su Ming rolled his neck. His request to stay here had been abrupt, and Harley had no spare pillow for him. He tugged at the blanket and lay back down. "No."
"Are you sleepwalking?" Diana tilted her head and looked at him disdainfully.
"Mm." Su Ming turned over, presenting his back to Diana.
Diana sat down cross-legged, drew Vulcan's Sword, and slowly sharpened it with a whetstone. "Then I'll wait."
Scrape. Scrape. Scrape.
It was not just the sound of the blade being sharpened—the sparks were nearly landing on Su Ming's back. How could he possibly sleep through that? Not to mention the terrifying resentment
