The once utterly silent sector around the Source Wall was now as lively as a boiling pot. The multicolored flashes from the battle painted the countless colossi embedded in the wall in every shade imaginable.

All manner of debris drifted through space: wreckage from Skull Ships, corpses of Lanterns of every color, and fragments of the Source Wall giants, cramming the already limited space to the brim.

Brainiac had planned this long ago. His fleet had jumped directly into the faces of the major Lantern Corps, then launched close-quarters combat and pinned everyone down.

Skull Ships were rather different from ordinary spacecraft.

By common sense, warships in space either carried ship-mounted cannons or relied on fighters and mechs, since engagement distances were measured in light-years.

But Brainiac had deliberately gone the opposite way. Apart from the two fairly ordinary energy cannons serving as its eyes, a Skull Ship's primary weapons were the mechanical tentacles extending from beneath it.

Those tentacles were made of some secret alloy. Even Superman would need to put in some effort to tear them apart. When fighting other ships, anything caught by those tentacles was basically finished in an instant.

Thanks to Brainiac's genius technology, Skull Ships could enter atmospheres. Those tentacles were extremely effective whether they were tearing down buildings or killing people.

Still, the idea of tentacles sprouting from beneath a skull seemed oddly familiar.

"We'll hold the enemy back! Starman, take Hawkgirl and continue the plan!" Hal had already flown over and taken command from Kyle.

Kyle was a brave warrior who always led by example, fighting on the front lines to inspire morale.

However, command was his weakness. He had never systematically studied aerial combat theory, since he had been a comic artist before becoming a Lantern.
