"I understand, Senior."
Luo Ye spoke earnestly.
Then he got busy chopping vegetables and putting whatever he didn't need into the fridge, only to discover that it wouldn't all fit.
Anyone who didn't know better would have thought his family was celebrating New Year today.
He had been a little too eager to impress her, and as he kept shopping, he ended up buying too much.
Now it seemed that courting a girl wasn't something he could rush. He needed to take it one step at a time and keep a level head.
Come to think of it, when should he confess his feelings to her?
Luo Ye began seriously considering the question.
"Junior."
Su Baizhou leaned halfway out of the kitchen, holding a spoon. "Come help."
"Coming, Senior!"
Luo Ye's train of thought was instantly broken, and he eagerly trotted into the kitchen.
Before long, dinner was ready.
Since there were only two of them, Su Baizhou hadn't made much.
However, Su Baizhou had already thought of a way to deal with the mountain of ingredients Luo Ye had bought.
She planned to turn them into boxed meals so the meat and seafood wouldn't spoil so quickly, then keep the meals fresh until classes resumed three days from now and have Luo Ye take them to his roommates.
Otherwise, the two of them would never finish everything, and those fresh ingredients would spoil within a day or two.
After dinner, Su Baizhou sat on the sofa watching TV while Luo Ye went into the kitchen to wash the dishes.
Once he finished, Luo Ye sat on the sofa too.
They sat at opposite ends of the sofa, their eyes fixed on the TV.
Of course, neither of them was actually thinking about what was on the screen.
After a long while, Su Baizhou asked, "Is your family very wealthy?"
Luo Ye froze at her question.
She must have asked because she'd seen all the ingredients he had bought for tonight.
He scratched his head and answered, "I have a part-time job, so I've earned some money."
Su Baizhou didn't pursue the question or ask what his part-time job was. She simply said, "Don't buy such expensive things next time."
"I understand, Senior."
Before long, it was getting late, and Su Baizhou stood up.
"Let's go to bed."
"Okay."
They each returned to their own rooms.
Although Luo Ye's room had no blanket, the weather in early October wasn't cold enough for him to need one.
Luo Ye took out his phone and started writing in his room.
Meanwhile, Su Baizhou was doing computer-related freelance work in hers.
Two hours later, Luo Ye finished writing four thousand characters. He stretched, then checked the time.
Half past midnight.
Luo Ye quietly opened his bedroom door and poked his head out to look into the pitch-black living room.
The bathroom light was on, and a slender figure was showering inside.
Luo Ye silently closed the door, his heart pounding.
Why was she showering at this hour?
He knew Fairy Senior's sleep schedule was irregular, but he hadn't expected her to take a shower in the middle of the night.
Still, it made sense. Su Baizhou naturally wouldn't shower while Luo Ye was in the living room. She had only come out to wash because she thought he was asleep.
But Luo Ye hadn't fallen asleep. Besides, without his computer, he had been writing on his phone without making a sound.
His room was silent, with only the sound of running water from the bathroom echoing through the living room.
Luo Ye sat in his bedroom chair, absentmindedly scrolling through short videos.
In the freshman group chat, that rich kid was still trying to make his presence known. He posted pictures of his luxury car and asked how to park it.
And one out of every five messages tagged Tang Enqi. He seemed very interested in the freshman campus belle.
Come to think of it, this rich kid was considered one of the three most talked-about freshmen. His name was Gao Yuming.
Another was Shen Qiao, the freshman campus heartthrob famous for his looks. The last was Tang Enqi, whose status as the freshman campus belle spoke for itself.
He wasn't the school's only rich kid, but he was the only one who showed off at every opportunity.
Reading all the attention seekers' messages in the freshman group chat every day was how Luo Ye passed the time.
Soon, the sound of water in the bathroom stopped.
Su Baizhou put on her pajamas, came out of the bathroom, and returned to her room.
The light in the master bedroom was still on, which meant Fairy Senior was still working.
Luo Ye sneaked out of his room and went to use the bathroom.
The entire bathroom was filled with a rich fragrance Luo Ye knew well. It was his senior's natural scent.
After a quick pee, Luo Ye returned to his room.
Although they were under the same roof, Luo Ye still chose to send her a message.
"Get some sleep soon, Senior."
When the message arrived on Su Baizhou's phone, she looked at it, her gaze turning a little distant.
She looked back at the computer in front of her. She had only finished seventy percent of this freelance assignment, and completing it would take at least another hour.
Normally, Su Baizhou wouldn't have been so busy during the holiday, but she had something to do tomorrow, so she was staying up late tonight.
She needed to keep the whole of tomorrow free.
At two in the morning, Su Baizhou stretched and got ready for bed.
When he saw the light in Fairy Senior's room finally go out, Luo Ye climbed into bed too, closed his eyes, and went to sleep.
Eight o'clock the next morning.
Luo Ye opened his eyes.
He changed his clothes and got ready to wash up.
After leaving his room, Luo Ye was surprised to see breakfast neatly laid out on the table.
A basket of soup dumplings, two fried dough sticks, two cups of soy milk, and two tea eggs.
Su Baizhou was sitting at the table, waiting for Luo Ye to wake up.
Luo Ye went into the bathroom, then suddenly realized he had no toothpaste, or even a towel. He could only come back and sit down across from Fairy Senior.
Seeing how listless Luo Ye looked, Su Baizhou asked evenly, "Are you like this every day?"
"It's not too bad. After staying up late for so long, getting up early makes me sleepy."
Luo Ye yawned, then popped a whole soup dumpling into his mouth.
After eating just one, Luo Ye asked curiously, "Senior, when did you buy breakfast?"
Su Baizhou was wearing loose black clothes, and the black hair at her temples was a little damp, as though she had just finished exercising.
Luo Ye had seen Fairy Senior looking like this before.
It had been on the track that day.
"I bought it on my way back from my morning run."
Su Baizhou propped up her chin and stared unblinkingly at Luo Ye, as though she were waiting for something.
Embarrassed by her gaze, Luo Ye lowered his head and quietly continued eating.
For some reason, Su Baizhou really liked watching Luo Ye eat.
He looked so cute when he ate, as though all his attention were focused on the food.
Meanwhile, Luo Ye was only thinking that he needed to follow her example and go running every morning to stay fit, so he wouldn't be in poor health when he got old.
Of course, it definitely wasn't because he wanted to go on a morning run with Fairy Senior every day.
