Facing their doubts, Fang Xiu continued, "Miss Shen, your ability is to control flames, and your measurements are 85, 63, 80."
Shen Lingxue's expression immediately darkened. "My ability is no secret. Anyone who's had contact with Spirit Tamer circles has probably heard something about it. As for my measurements, most people could make a rough guess just by looking, though they usually wouldn't be as accurate as you."
"Miss Shen, you have another secret no one knows about. Do you need me to say it out loud?" Fang Xiu asked.
Li Wenhao instantly perked up.
"Go ahead! I have no shameful secrets," Shen Lingxue said defiantly.
"Miss Shen, you have an extreme obsession with pink. Your bras and panties are all pink. You even have a tattoo of a pink..."
Boom!
A fierce blaze suddenly erupted from Shen Lingxue's fair hand, sending a wave of heat sweeping through the room.
She glared at Fang Xiu in utter mortification and fury. "You're not Future Prediction at all. This is clearly X-ray vision!"
"You're just like Zhao Hao. Neither of you is any good!"
Facing the scorching flames, Fang Xiu said calmly, "First, let me explain. The ability of Future Prediction doesn't work the way you imagine. I can't freely see everything that will happen. Sometimes, I only see fragmented images."
"For example, last night I saw an image of the two of you coming here, so I spent some spirituality to foresee your futures.
"I saw a few more images involving you both and learned some information.
"I saw Mr. Li taking out a love letter late one night and reading it over and over. I also saw Miss Shen sorting her underwear at home."
Shen Lingxue slowly extinguished the flames, but the hostility in her eyes remained. She kept feeling that Fang Xiu must have seen more than that. After all, that tattoo was on her...
"Nothing you've said so far can be verified. This doesn't count as true Future Prediction."
"Then what would count as Future Prediction to you?"
Shen Lingxue thought for a moment. "Tonight's Lottery Draw numbers!"
Fang Xiu nodded, then took a pen and some paper, wrote down a string of numbers, and handed it to Shen Lingxue.
Shen Lingxue eyed the numbers in her hand skeptically.
"Miss Shen, let me warn you in advance: the future isn't set in stone. Every action in the present can change it. For example, if you use the Investigation Bureau's authority to change today's winning numbers, then naturally, the numbers I wrote won't win. So if you want to verify their accuracy, don't do anything that could affect the future, and certainly don't buy a ticket."
Fang Xiu spoke with a perfectly calm expression, giving the false impression of absolute certainty, as though he really had foreseen it.
In truth, he was making it all up. His real plan was to watch the Lottery Draw that night, then trigger death rollback.
Seeing Fang Xiu so confident, Shen Lingxue was already halfway convinced.
Yet she continued to question him. "Fang Xiu, you'd better be telling the truth. If I find out these numbers didn't win, that means you lied to me, and you..."
Fang Xiu interrupted her. "If they don't win, I'll stake my life on it."
Shen Lingxue froze, not expecting Fang Xiu to be so confident.
At that moment, Li Wenhao leaned over to look at the numbers too. After studying them for a while, he suddenly let out a puzzled sound.
"Huh? That's not right! Aren't lottery numbers supposed to have seven digits? Why are there only six here?"
"What? Seven digits? Are you sure?" Shen Lingxue asked doubtfully.
"Of course I'm sure. I've bought tickets plenty of times."
"Fang Xiu, you really are lying to me!" Shen Lingxue immediately flew into a rage. The lottery needed seven digits, and he'd written six. How could those possibly win?
Yet Fang Xiu calmly walked over, picked up the pen, and casually added a 1 to the end of the six-digit number.
He put down the pen and addressed the stunned pair. "Sorry, I left out a digit just now. It's correct now. Those will be tonight's winning numbers."
Seeing Fang Xiu act so confidently and casually, both Shen Lingxue and Li Wenhao felt as though their intelligence was being insulted.
Really, though, Fang Xiu couldn't be blamed for this. Across both his lives, he'd barely bought any lottery tickets. How was he supposed to remember how many digits there were?
"If you can see the future, how could you leave out a digit?" Shen Lingxue asked, plainly unconvinced.
"What you need to do now is wait, not question me. Once the facts are revealed, all your doubts will vanish." Fang Xiu was as confident as ever.
Then Shen Lingxue suddenly said, "If you really have Future Prediction, why wait for the Lottery Draw? You could simply predict what I'm about to do next."
Fang Xiu gave her a calm glance. "How many times do you think a First-Tier Spirit Tamer like me can foresee the future? Besides, why should I prove myself to you? Are you senior officials at the Investigation Bureau?
"If I prove myself to you now, will I have to prove myself to the higher-ups again once I get to the Investigation Bureau?
"Sorry, I can only foresee the future. I'm not omniscient or omnipotent."
"You!" Shen Lingxue's brows immediately shot up in anger.
Li Wenhao hurriedly stepped in to smooth things over. "Investigator Shen, please calm down. We'll know the answer when the Lottery Draw happens tonight anyway. Mr. Fang, for now, let's talk about your experience in the Ghost Domain at Hundred Willows Academy."
Fang Xiu nodded. "That Ghost Domain is called Green Mountain Psychiatric Hospital."
"Green Mountain Psychiatric Hospital?" Li Wenhao looked thoroughly puzzled.
Shen Lingxue snorted. "Naming Ghost Domains is the Investigation Bureau's job."
Fang Xiu ignored her and continued, "Green Mountain Psychiatric Hospital appeared out of nowhere and overlapped with the Hundred Willows Academy sales office. By the time we noticed, everyone was already inside the psychiatric hospital."
"Mr. Fang, why were you certain it was a psychiatric hospital?"
"Because this Ghost Domain was a hospital, and I saw a sign inside that read 'Green Mountain Psychiatric Hospital.'"
Afterward, Fang Xiu briefly recounted what had happened in the Ghost Domain. He didn't reveal too much, because he was only a First-Tier Spirit Tamer. Even if his ability was Future Prediction, he couldn't use it at will.
Of course, he left out everything about the Scalpel. A valuable ghost artifact could cause unnecessary trouble once its existence became known.
A long while later.
After hearing his story, Shen Lingxue and Li Wenhao fell into thought.
"Fang Xiu, are you saying that, besides the Female Physician Ghost and the Ghost that controls dreams, there might be other Ghosts in the Hundred Willows Academy Ghost Domain? Did you foresee them?"
Shen Lingxue was incredibly stubborn. Even now, she insisted on calling Green Mountain Psychiatric Hospital the Hundred Willows Academy Ghost Domain.
Fang Xiu wasn't surprised. Spirit Tamers were people with warped minds to begin with. Some were simply worse than others, while some had milder symptoms.
Shen Lingxue was already one of the better ones. She showed no murderous or vicious tendencies. She was merely arrogant, domineering, irritable, stubborn, petty, difficult to get along with, contemptuous of others, overly suspicious... just a few hundred million little flaws.
