The two passed through the gateway dotted with little lights, and their eyes lit up.
Directly ahead stood a large thatched pavilion, occupying the center of the courtyard. It had a wooden frame with a layer of thatch on top, obviously fake, but it had the right feel. Gu Junhao looked around and made a quick estimate. It probably hadn't cost much. But they certainly knew how to dress it up. A whole ring of red lanterns hung around it, glowing red against the night, instantly bringing out that lively, old-world atmosphere.
A plaque hung right in the middle.
Three characters-Gathering Talent Hall.
Gu Junhao paused.
Talent. The word sounded just like wealth.
Sit inside for a meal, and they called you a talented person, while gathering wealth into the bargain.
People in Fucheng loved that sort of thing.
Then again, who didn't?
What a clever name.
The pavilion's floor was raised, with rows of wooden tables and benches laid out on top, just like a tavern in a period movie. It was already full, with talking, laughter, and shouted calls all mixing into a noisy din. Night market stalls ringed the pavilion, with walkways left between them, packed with people.
Gu Junhao glanced toward the back.
Behind the stalls stood three converted garages. He knew them all too well.
The first had a sign reading "Second Mom Kitchen." Its door was closed and its lights were off. This had been the company cafeteria, which he had personally set up back then. Apparently, it was open to the public now. The middle garage was wrapped tightly in red advertising fabric printed with "Grandpa Liu's Beef Offal, Store Two, under renovation." The third had its lights on, with a metal plaque fixed beside the door-Jiangcheng Chengyou Construction Labor Services Co., Ltd.,
