Huge packs of wolves gathered around them. At a glance, there were already over ten thousand, divided into dozens of packs by breed: Azure Wolves born with wings, Flame Wolves with scarlet horns, Silver Wolves, Black Wolves, handsome white-and-blue Frost Wolves, and more.
Somehow, Little One had snatched the Wolf Egg, claiming he wanted to roast and eat it. Huo Ling'er chased after him, her eyes blazing with fury, and the two began another round of bickering and scuffling.
As for the pursuing packs, their wolf kings were merely weaker beasts of the Spirit Transformation Realm. They knew simple Treasure Arts and fell within the category of Savage Beasts. A genius who had opened seven Heavenly Grottos could still put up a fight against them.
However, everyone was focused on fleeing. Nobody wanted to fall into that endless sea of wolves and be worn down to death.
Xiao Tian had not gone in to steal any eggs, yet a wolf king that did not know what was good for it actually led its pack over to attack him.
He immediately unleashed his mutated Sacrificial Spirit Gourd Vine Treasure Art. A green gourd marked with purple patterns of the Dao hovered above his head, its mouth devouring everything. In a single breath, it swallowed over a thousand Savage Wolves wreathed in black mist. Only then did the packs give up their pursuit.
After an entire night of commotion, Shi Hao tried roasting the egg the next morning, only to discover that he could do nothing to it. He could neither crack it nor cook it. In the end, it hatched into a Little Gray with soft fur and a pair of tiny wings on her back. She looked exceedingly delicate, with two little ears standing upright and two small bumps on her head, as though horns were about to grow out.
Xiao Tian reckoned she must be the offspring of a Heavenly God Wolf. Her parents were certainly no ordinary beings of the Divine Fire Realm or the True One realm; otherwise, Shi Hao would have cracked her shell and cooked her.
Gray and fluffy all over, she had a pair of large, shining black eyes. She looked around in utter bewilderment, instinctively curling up in Little One's arms. Gazing at everyone, she bared her teeth and let out little whimpers.
Since Shi Hao was the first person she had seen upon hatching, she instinctively depended on him, unaware that the naughty boy before her had nearly eaten her.
"Haha, wonderful! I hatched a little divine wolf! So wolves really can hatch from eggs. Let me see the primordial runes on your body."
Thrilled, Shi Hao lifted the little creature by her tail and began fiddling with her.
A little while later!
"Why aren't there any? That shouldn't be right. Could this be a fake Wolf God?" Shi Hao said dejectedly.
Just then, the little creature gazed pitifully at Shi Hao and yelped. She was probably hungry.
Huo Ling'er adored her at first sight, her heart melting at the little creature's cuteness. "You rotten scoundrel, give her to me! Stop bullying her. She must be hungry."
Shi Hao scratched his head, feeling rather awkward. For the first time, he felt genuinely embarrassed. He had not been gentle with the little wolf, yet she was still so attached to him. Hearing Huo Ling'er's words, he looked toward Shui Ling'er and instinctively asked, "Junior Sister, do you have any milk?"
Then Huo Ling'er bristled with fury at Shi Hao yet again. Who spoke to a beautiful young maiden like that?
Another great battle began.
Among the others, the Nine-Headed Lion still looked rather dispirited. His legs had grown back, as had four of his heads, but that was still not enough.
To think that he, the Nine-Spirit King's grandson, had nearly been eaten.
However, when he thought of the pitiful Feather King, he felt a little better.
Looking at the Silver-Blood Giant, who had likewise been reduced to a lackey, made him feel a little better still.
After all, when they first entered the Hundred Broken Mountains, they had styled themselves the Feather King, the Nine-Headed King, the Silver-Blood King, and the Golden-Horned King.
Right, the Golden-Horned King and the Spirit King had gone looking for Bear Child and never returned. Their ends probably had not been pleasant.
Did that mean he had snatched his life back from the jaws of death?
Next, Shi Hao tossed Little Gray to Huo Ling'er and began comforting the Nine-Headed Lion, promising to find the Fountain of Youth to help him undergo a complete transformation and advance further.
As for Little Gray, she was a clever little rascal. She played along and ingratiated herself with Huo Ling'er to get delicious food, then brought it back for Shi Hao to eat. She was very smart.
Huo Ling'er was furious, feeling that this little wolf was an ungrateful wretch who would never grow attached to her.
In the end, the Black-Robed Elders accompanying Huo Ling'er proposed splitting up. They advised her to stay away from Shi Hao. Once she had raised the little wolf for long enough, the creature would naturally become attached to her. In the future, this infant deity might even become the Fire Kingdom's guardian divine beast.
Neither Xiao Tian nor Shi Hao cared about the Fire Kingdom's little schemes. They had forged a friendly connection, and parting ways suited them just fine. Those people were only burdens tagging along and freeloading off their food and drink. A meal or two was fine, but any more than that, and Xiao Tian was unwilling.
He was not their father.
After traveling for more than three days and crossing tens of thousands of li, they saw hazy mist ahead. The Nine-Headed Lion said excitedly, "We're here! We can leave this region and enter the next one."
The Nine-Headed Lion's clan had an ancient heritage and maps to match, so he knew something about the Hundred Broken Mountains Range.
However, the Heaven Mending Pavilion's circumstances were unusual. Even with maps, its entrants had been led to their deaths many times, all for the sake of finding a sword for Ghost Master.
Sure enough, through the hazy mist, they could see a glowing passage at the edge of this region, resembling a teleportation formation.
"Great King, Second King, once we enter this passage, we'll reach the next region. We heard that several Human Race factions want to harm the Second King."
The Silver-Blood Giant immediately spoke up in warning.
"No matter. We'll simply kill our way through. Before absolute strength, every plot and scheme is nothing but a clay chicken or a pottery dog."
Xiao Tian did not particularly object to their forms of address. He thought they had quite a nice ring to them; refined, scholarly titles were not to his taste.
"Exactly. Those people simply don't know when to stop courting death."
Shi Hao knew that some people had guessed his true identity and had deliberately come to hunt him down.
Others belonged to the powerful clans he had offended by being too conspicuous in the Void God Realm, leaving them nursing grudges.
The Fire Cloud Sparrow immediately stepped forward and volunteered. "Great King, Second King, I'll scout out the situation."
"Good. Go!"
Xiao Tian said.
Before long, the Fire Cloud Sparrow found some Primordial Remnants in this region and questioned them about the situation.
"Human Race experts in this region have joined forces and are gathering information about the Second King. They also asked about the Great King in passing. They've set something up at the other end of the passage."
The Fire Cloud Sparrow returned with this news.
"Brother, why don't we take another passage, circle around behind them, and launch a surprise attack?"
Shi Hao suggested.
"We can try.
"But I reckon both passages will have ambushes waiting."
Xiao Tian said casually.
As it turned out, after spending half a day taking a detour into that region, they discovered it was raining. An Azure Flood Dragon was deliberately summoning rain, shrouding dozens of li in fine drizzle and swirling haze.
"The Rain Clan probably used some means or paid a price to have that Azure Flood Dragon create these conditions. I hear the Rain Clan's fighting strength increases severalfold when it rains."
The Silver-Blood Giant immediately spoke up.
"Be careful, all of you. That Azure Flood Dragon is mine."
Xiao Tian said.
That Azure Flood Dragon was a Primordial Remnant. Whether it had allied with the Rain Clan or accepted payment, it made no difference. He had yet to eat flood dragon meat since coming here.
As his words fell, a pair of Five-Colored Wings spread behind Xiao Tian. He soared into the sky and flew straight after the Azure Flood Dragon.
The Azure Flood Dragon had turned to flee the moment it spotted them. What it had not expected was that Xiao Tian, a human, could fly even faster than it could. Even after fleeing more than ten li, it was still on the verge of being overtaken. Terrified, it turned and rushed toward the Rain Clan's position.
Boom!
At the same time, the Rune Formation overhead was triggered. Without touching it, ordinary cultivators could not even make it out. The moment Xiao Tian soared into the sky, he triggered its lethal assault.
Thud!
Disdain flashed in Xiao Tian's eyes. He took his Ruyi Jingu Bang from his ear and enlarged it to its normal size, then lightly thrust it toward the sky. With a rumble, mountains and rivers trembled. The runes were torn open as easily as splitting bamboo.
Then he raised his hand and swept his staff sideways. The Ruyi Jingu Bang grew longer and thicker, sweeping across more than a thousand meters and smashing the Grand Rune Formation overhead into dust.
"The Great King is mighty!"
The big red bird immediately cried out excitedly.
"The Great King is invincible in battle! Accomplished in letters and arms, his virtue blesses all living beings! For a thousand autumns and ten thousand ages, he shall unite the Hundred Broken Mountains!"
Unwilling to fall behind, the Tree Person shouted.
"The Great King possesses boundless divine abilities and limitless magical power!"
The Silver-Blood Giant immediately chimed in, unwilling to be outdone.
The Nine-Headed Lion was utterly dumbfounded. What talent!
Having done all this, Xiao Tian put away the Ruyi Jingu Bang and tucked it back into his ear. He would not need it for what came next. Using such a treasure to kill this trash would be an insult to it.
"The formation is broken! Kill!"
Shi Hao jumped onto the Nine-Headed Lion's back and fed him a bowl of encouragement. "Charge, Nine-Headed King! Cheer up. Don't worry, I'll definitely find the Fountain of Youth. If that doesn't work, we'll capture a Pure-Blooded Fierce Beast cub and have my brother make you a precious flesh-and-blood medicine to help you break through."
"Roar!"
The Nine-Headed Lion let out a mighty roar, venting his pent-up frustration. Behind him, a gigantic Nine-Headed Lion appeared and roared along with him. In an instant, the earth, mountains, and rivers within more than ten li exploded, accompanied by terrified screams.
"Ah..."
Shi Hao roared as well, using the Pulao Treasure Art. With a croak-roar, a lifelike monster appeared, bearing a dragon's head, a frog's body covered in silver dragon scales, and dragon claws for limbs. It opened its mouth slightly, its voice resounding like great bronze bells. Waves of sound layered upon one another, piercing metal and splitting stone, pulverizing everything in their path.
The hazy drizzle and swirling mist were instantly blasted into a vacuum by the combined sonic attacks of the Nine-Headed Lion and Shi Hao.
Xiao Tian glanced over and knew these Rain Clan members were doomed. Several burst apart on the spot, turning into bloody liquid and shattered bones.
Looking toward the Azure Flood Dragon, Xiao Tian wove Thunderbolts around himself, condensing a Thunder Spear that seemed to become solid, engraved with Suanni patterns. "Hah!" Xiao Tian bellowed as well. Empowered by the Pulao Treasure Art, his cry shook the Azure Flood Dragon, briefly arresting it in midair.
Then a Thunder Spear streaked across the sky like divine punishment descending, driving straight into the Azure Flood Dragon's skull and pinning it from the sky to the ground, killing it instantly.
Thud!
The Azure Flood Dragon, a full twenty meters long and slightly thicker than a bucket, crashed to the ground. The earth shook, and cracks spread outward like sinister black pythons slithering across it.
Whoosh!
The pair of Luan Bird Five-Colored Wings behind Xiao Tian beat once. He instantly vanished from his spot and appeared beside his prey. Pressing his hand against the Azure Flood Dragon's corpse, he rapidly shrank it into a tiny worm and tossed it into a Jade Box he took from inside his robe.
