It was both Liu Woxing's and Lai Bingxuan's first time eating crayfish at a roadside food stall.
The tables and chairs were scattered casually along the road. Customers simply shouted their orders to the owner, who brought the dishes over once he finished cooking them.
The customers drank and chatted freely, while smoke and steam rose from the owner's stove.
After a few drinks, Liu Woxing gazed dazedly at the scene before her.
It was hard to imagine that she was actually experiencing this.
For her former self, at least, it would have been an impossible dream.
"Ah! That hit the spot!"
After downing another glass, Lai Bingxuan's face was flushed bright red. The alcohol had clearly gone to her head. "Xie Mi, you're honestly pretty interesting."
"A lot of people I've met would act like they were swallowing some terrible humiliation when I paid them to do something, as if I were insulting them with my money."
"But when I told them they didn't have to do it, and that I had plenty of other people I could ask, they still chose to take the money."
"I just don't get it. They obviously wanted the money, so why did they have to pretend it was beneath them? What was the point?"
"Is loving money something to be ashamed of? Who doesn't love money?"
"So, Xie Mi, you're the first person I've ever met who took my money and was actually grateful to me."
"You're different from all those people."
With the alcohol loosening her tongue, Lai Bingxuan thumped Xie Mi's shoulder several times before finally blurting out something she had been holding back for a long time.
"Thank you."
Xie Mi stared at Lai Bingxuan in alarm.
Was this the God of Wealth in the flesh?
