Shen Yeqing somewhat regretted opening up to Xie Mi.
He was only mentally ill, but Sister Liu seemed determined to make him physically dead.
"Sister Liu..."
Shen Yeqing turned to look at Xie Mi, who was cheering him on a short distance away. "Do I really have to jump?"
"Jump!" Xie Mi nodded emphatically, her gaze utterly resolute.
"..."
Shen Yeqing looked away and slowly lowered his gaze to the dizzying abyss beneath his feet.
It was ten in the morning, and they were standing on a bungee platform supposedly famous for "never replacing the rope unless there's an accident."
Xie Mi's booming voice continued to ring out behind him, brimming with encouragement.
"Old Shen, little Shen, medium Shen, jump!"
"Happiness is adrenaline! You'll understand once you jump!"
"Instructor, kick him off!"
That last line caught him completely off guard. Shen Yeqing had only a second to panic before a foot struck his back.
Thump!
He plummeted from the platform. An intense sensation of weightlessness swept over him, accompanied by the wind roaring past his ears. In an instant, his mind went blank.
From above came a voice like God calling in his ear just before death.
"My child."
"Do you feel happy?"
One of the poor boy's shoes was blown clean off, and stars danced before his eyes.
"I feel..."
Like I'm about to die.
After the bungee jump, the boy leaned back on a bench with his head tilted up and his eyes closed, recovering. His clothes were disheveled, and his black hair stuck up in a windswept mess.
Hearing footsteps approach, he opened his eyes. "Sister..."
His voice cut off as his gaze followed Xie Mi squatting down.
She deftly pulled off his remaining shoe, took a running start, and sent it flying into the heavens
