"Here are the rules for the Guardian Angel Game!"
"Everyone will write their name and wish on a slip of paper, then draw lots. Whoever you draw will be the person you protect. Today, you must quietly look after them and fulfill their wish."
At this point, Director Niu added, "Remember, quietly."
Once the rules had been announced, the production crew handed everyone paper and pens.
Xie Mi wrote down her name first, then pondered the wish field for a moment before writing a few big words.
[Wish: reap the rewards without doing any work all day.]
Once everyone had written their wishes, the slips were collected and placed in the draw box. Then they took turns drawing.
Everyone had to open their slip and check it after drawing. If they drew their own name, they had to put it back and draw again.
"Now, please open your slips and confirm who you'll be protecting today and what their wish is!"
Xie Mi unfolded the slip she had drawn.
The name Shen Yeqing jumped out at her.
Oh!
Well, wasn't that a coincidence.
The Love Bus drove along the coastal highway before finally stopping by the sea.
A gentle sea breeze blew, carrying a salty scent through the humid air.
"This is where we'll be camping by the sea," Director Niu announced loudly.
Qiu Chengye frowned. "Where's the camping equipment? Where's the food? How are we supposed to camp with nothing?"
He had hit on the crucial question.
A vast white beach stretched before them, empty except for a group of crew members holding cameras.
Surely they weren't supposed to use the sky as their blanket and the ground as their bed?
Director Niu smiled slyly. "You'll have to pay for those things. But you can't use your own money. You'll have to compete against us to earn your camping funds."
"Compete?" Liu Woxing asked in confusion.
"That's right!"
The assistant director strode out from among the directors, hands on his hips and brimming with swagger. "Today, the guests will face off against the production team in three games. Every game you win will earn you one thousand yuan. If you lose, you get nothing."
"I have a list of prices in South Sea City here for your reference." Director Niu produced a price list.
Xie Mi leaned over for a look.
Good grief. Forget food and drinks-even the cheapest tent cost 200 yuan a day. Six people would need to rent at least two, not to mention a canopy, tables, chairs, a barbecue grill...
They would have to win at least two thousand yuan just to scrape by for a day.
"So what are the events?" Xiao Jingxi asked.
"Tug-of-war, beach volleyball, and a swimming race! To keep things fair, our production team will also send out three men and three women to compete against you!"
Qiu Chengye smiled at that.
The production crew, led by the assistant director, were all a bunch of weaklings. Wasn't victory guaranteed?
He stepped forward, chest out and chin raised. "I've been working out for years. These events will be a piece of cake for me. I'll be captain today, and you'll all listen to-"
Two hulking, muscular men standing 188 centimeters tall and three women built like bodybuilding Barbies stepped out from behind the assistant director.
With a Pan Zhou Dan sidestep, Qiu Chengye slipped right back into the group.
[Our man Qiu knows when to stand tall and when to duck.]
[Hahahahahaha, I'm dying.]
[How are they supposed to play this? Matchsticks versus giant gorillas?]
[Excuse me, is that any way to talk about people?]
"Well? Do you accept the challenge?" taunted the assistant director, the lone matchstick among the hulks.
Xie Mi was just about to drop to her knees and beg for mercy when Xu Shuangrong secretly pushed her forward.
By the time she realized what had happened, she was standing at the very front of the group. Behind her, Xu Shuangrong gave her an apologetic smile.
A little apologetic, but not much.
Xie Mi flew into a rage on the spot, scooping up sand to unleash a Sandstorm Tornado.
"We accept! Come on! Kill us if you've got the guts! We'll all fight you to the death! Come on! Nobody's getting out alive-!!"
Xu Shuangrong's smile vanished.
Everyone else: "Nice."
The games officially began. Round one: tug-of-war.
Five hulks and one negligible weakling stood opposite them, already crushing them with their sheer presence.
Although their team had three men who worked out regularly, the women were all fairly slender. There was no way they could match the other team in strength.
Xie Mi frowned, considering how they might win this round.
The assistant director taunted them from across the sand. "Don't bother thinking! You're losing no matter what!"
As if to prove their strength, the moment he finished speaking, one of the muscular men picked him up with one hand as easily as lifting a chick.
[Holy shit, how can they possibly win?]
[Their best bet is to concede and save their strength for the next game. Don't waste time on a round they can't win.]
[No surrender! The Xie Family Army never admits defeat! Charge, Xie Mi, fucking charge!]
"Guys, I've got a plan!"
Xie Mi gathered them into a huddle and whispered, "Once it starts, I'll #@##@%@#%. You guys find a way to hold on for the first three seconds. Remember, you have to hold on!"
Director Niu blew his whistle, officially starting the match.
With the assistant director leading them, the opposing team roared their chant: "One, two, heave! One, two, heave!"
The red marker in the middle immediately shifted toward them. Sure enough, the teams were hopelessly mismatched.
But there was always room for a surprise.
At the head of the guests' team, Xie Mi suddenly released the rope, bent into a charging bull's stance, and kicked off the ground, hurtling forward!
Across from her, the assistant director's pupils contracted. All he could see were three bovine prongs stabbing toward him!
"Aaargh-!"
The hairstylist had used three whole bottles of hair gel to shape Xie Mi's hair into three steel-hard black prongs. That jab sent the assistant director's eyes rolling back in his head.
She wasn't done yet. She roared, "Charging Bull!!"
Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam! She sent them all flying.
The guests' team yanked the rope away with a whoosh, while Xie Mi, concussed by the impact, drifted peacefully into unconsciousness.
What a noble sacrifice.
[Xie Mi... you're a fucking legend.]
[So this was what the hairstyle was setting up. I get it. I get it now.]
[The scariest part is that after all that, our Xie's hairstyle is still! Solid! As! A! Rock!]
[Which salon was it? I'm seriously calling the police.]
When Xie Mi opened her eyes again, she was nestled in Shen Yeqing's arms.
"You're awake?" He looked down at her, an unmistakable allure in his beautiful, soul-stealing eyes.
Momentarily bewitched, Xie Mi slowly reached her wicked hand toward his firm, warm abs. "I think I could lie here a little longer... huh?"
Who was pulling her?
She turned to find Xiao Jingxi gripping her arm, his face dark as he tugged her away. "What are you two doing!"
Xie Mi immediately took exception. Her other hand hurriedly wrapped around Shen Yeqing's waist, sneaking in a couple of squeezes as she protested, "Hey, what are you doing? I'm telling you, I'm still dizzy! I'm not being a pervert, it's mainly the dizziness-"
A low chuckle sounded above her head, soft and tantalizing.
Smack!
Shen Yeqing slapped Xiao Jingxi's hand away and drew Xie Mi's other arm back into his embrace, his voice brimming with undisguised pleasure.
"Can't you see what we're doing?"
"She's lusting after my body."
