The reason Xie Mi had laughed off the subject earlier was that she was too embarrassed to say anything so mushy.
Things like "I missed you," "I love you," and "I was worried about you" were delightful when she watched other people say them, but when it was her turn, she just couldn't get the words out.

Yet Shen Yeqing was looking at her with those utterly captivating eyes, wearing the pleading expression of a sad puppy.

The two spectators who had been enjoying the show a second ago were now fleeing with their hands over their heads.

"Good heavens! I can't even tell if you're using each other as a distraction to attack us!"

The two ran off, yelping all the way.
