This was a male-oriented novel titled "So What If I'm a Bit of a Scumbag?"
The story followed the Male Lead, Mu Yihe, who suffered setback after setback in college, only to unexpectedly meet exceptional women-a sunny campus beauty, an aloof senior, an innocent junior, a beautiful roommate, and others-who inexplicably fell for him at first sight.
The sunny campus beauty in the story was named Xie Mi.
She was an art student with exquisite painting skills, always warm and radiant toward others, her emotions unfailingly stable.
Even when the Male Lead, Mu Yihe, flung her paintings in her face in a furious rage in front of everyone, she could still crouch down without a word to pick them up, then tilt her head and smile gently at him. "Having a bad day?"
Mu Yihe was an utter scumbag in the story. While enjoying Xie Mi's kindness, he remained entangled with various other women, yet every time Xie Mi caught him, he somehow managed to sanctimoniously demand that she be magnanimous.
To quote one of the Male Lead's classic lines:
"I can't belong to just one woman. If you want to stay by my side, you should learn to accept that."
And so Xie Mi really did accept it.
She never cried or made a fuss, always wore a smile, and was terrifyingly emotionally stable.
The book's final page featured a section of readers' questions for the author.
One reader asked: With so many beautiful women in this book, why did you choose Xie Mi as the "main wife"?
The author answered teasingly: Because I made emotional stability one of her traits. Only then could she accommodate the Male Lead's many wives and concubines. If it were that little drama queen Xiao Na instead, wouldn't the harem have gone up
