Yanbai ignored Black Zetsu. Holding a bowl, he carefully fed Silver Moon cornmeal porridge and gently wiped the child's mouth with gauze.
Black Zetsu appeared on Yanbai's left as though he had teleported and cried, "Answer me!"
Yanbai still did not look at Black Zetsu. Echoing the wording Black Zetsu had just used, he said, "...Hey, Brother Zetsu, are you even listening? What are you doing? My backend is a complete mess. Why won't you let me leave this world and return to the 'realm of the gods'?"
Although this world's Black Zetsu had become a World Administrator and worked for "Old Grandmother," he was still just an NPC in this virtual Shinobi World. He was simply more special than the other NPCs, something like an administrator's subordinate or an AI.
But Black Zetsu did not know that he was merely a program. He regarded the Shinobi World as a physical reality and believed Yanbai and his family were gods.
In fact, within this world's setting, "Old Grandmother" Kaguya really was the Rabbit Goddess.
The identity fit without the slightest inconsistency.
To the NPCs, Yanbai's family truly were "gods."
That was why Yanbai referred to their real world as the "realm of the gods" in front of Black Zetsu.
It was only a name, anyway. Black Zetsu understood what Yanbai meant: he no longer wanted to stay in this world.
Black Zetsu fell utterly silent, helplessness showing in his egg-yolk-yellow eyes.
Yanbai wore his usual smile, a trace of contempt flashing through his flame-like eyes.
Now you're getting anxious?
What were you doing before?
Yanbai's only duty was to test the system, experience it, and write up an evaluation to submit to Old Grandmother.
The system was broken now, wasn't it?
There was no need to test the system anymore.
