"Are you sure this stuff is edible?"
Black Zetsu stared at the pitch-black, indescribable things on the ground, narrowing his eyes as he studied them.
Yin dug them out with a stick, set them on the ground, then broke them in half.
The tender yellow flesh of the roasted sweet potatoes gave off fragrant steam. Yin waved a hand proudly. "They're delicious. Trust me!"
Still doubtful, Black Zetsu took one and stuffed it into his mouth. A rich sweetness spread across his tongue.
Yin crouched beside him, smiling with his chin propped on his hand as he watched.
Black Zetsu offered no lavish praise, but he never stopped eating.
The two had spent some time in this world they did not know how to name. Once their touching reunion was behind them, they wandered around together.
Black Zetsu had originally thought this would only be a brief encounter before death, but then... well, what a surprise. It was a long-term arrangement!
The world after death was remarkably idyllic. Everything was just like real life, except there were no other humans around.
To his astonishment, Black Zetsu also discovered that he now had a sense of taste, just like a normal human, and could enjoy food normally.
