Stelle and Jiang Yu followed the meowing and found another kind of Ruan Mei's creation.
It was a little cat tucked inside a pastry shell. To put it nicely, it was a cat cake; to put it less nicely, it was a cat biscuit.
The one before them had a green shell, while its body was a deep, brownish red, somewhat like very smooth red bean paste.
Jiang Yu really liked red bean paste buns, but he didn't like bean buns.
"Wahaha! This little thing looks delicious."
"Uh... this is the big trouble Ruan Mei mentioned?" Stelle looked puzzled. "Isn't this just a different flavor and shape?"
The little creature shrank back fearfully at Jiang Yu's words, but grew a little bolder once it realized he had no intention of eating it.
It told them it was Ashy Bean Paste flavored.
The little creature looked deeply troubled, tears pouring out. To understand what it was saying, Stelle activated the translation function previously added to her Synesthesia Beacon.
This little fellow and the Cheese Fondue they had met earlier were polar opposites. This one was as insecure as that one was arrogant.
Although it looked very cute, even Stelle found all its self-pitying remarks a headache after hearing enough of them.
After a brief exchange, a noise from somewhere nearby freed Stelle from Ashy Bean Paste's negativity. She exchanged a glance with Jiang Yu, and they decided to go take a look together.
Oh, and they had to bring the little creature along, if it was the big trouble Ruan Mei had mentioned.
As they followed the sound through the dark, cramped passage, Ashy Bean Paste suddenly began humming for some reason. Its halting tune sounded rather eerie in a setting like this.
