Background / History

Awakening and Transformation

During the uncanny crisis aboard Herta Space Station, March 7th recommended Arlan to Lin Chen as a capable fighter. Asta subsequently gave him the five Sanity Pills Lin Chen had supplied to awaken additional allies 19 27.

Arlan took all five pills because he feared a smaller dose would not be strong enough. They restored his sanity but also transformed his body into that of a girl. He arrived at the Master Control Zone carrying his warblade, startling Asta and causing Lin Chen to mistake him for a female warrior 27 28.

Arlan thanked Lin Chen for giving him another chance to protect the station. Their handshake established a basic bond recognized by the Starsea Conqueror system, which rewarded Lin Chen, not Arlan, with six Space Marines 28.

Investigation and the B4 Battle

Arlan investigated the locations where Security Department personnel had disappeared. He found neither a pattern nor signs of a struggle, and his anger over his missing colleagues became evident when he reported these findings. He joined Lin Chen, Asta, and March 7th in investigating the reservoir in the B4 Load Zone 28.

When the Conqueror Legion arrived, Arlan initially raised his weapon and moved to protect Asta. After recognizing the soldiers as allies, he admired their equipment and formations, wishing the station’s security personnel were equally capable 29.

Arlan led the first close-range assault against the building-sized uncanny monster, cutting through its black wave and severing hundreds of appendages. Its superior strength forced him back, while its rapid regeneration prompted him to request Asta’s support and urge a quick, decisive finish 32.

With March 7th freezing the creature and Asta providing support, Arlan delivered hundreds of blade strikes. The monster then broke free, blasted him away, and subjected him to mental contamination through its eerie song. By the time the sea fog dispersed, he remained too weakened for intense combat 33 35.

Arlan boarded Lin Chen’s Hellfire Battlewagon with the others and witnessed the monster’s defeat and containment. Afterward, he acknowledged the Conqueror Legion’s casualties and offered Lin Chen his future assistance in repayment 35 36 38.

Night Queen Lilith’s Attack

After the station was shattered, Night Queen Lilith brought Arlan, Asta, and March 7th into Lin Chen’s view. They retained their consciousness and reacted with horror to the wreckage 43.

Arlan initially expressed confidence in Lin Chen, but Lilith’s colossal manifestation over Azure Star overwhelmed that hope. He feared he would never have the chance to fulfill his promise of assistance 44.

Following the Conqueror Legion fleet’s intervention, Arlan warned Asta that neither she nor her family could afford its enormous collection of super Star Destroyers 49.

Appearance

Arlan’s appearance after taking the Sanity Pills is described as follows 27 28:

Personality

Outside combat, Arlan is earnest, cautious, and somewhat awkward. He lowers his head when thanking Lin Chen, reacts sheepishly to Asta’s scolding, and admits that he is not good at drinking rather than pretending otherwise. Asta considers him normally punctual 27 28 38.

His protective instincts are immediate: he places himself between Asta and unfamiliar armed arrivals before learning that they are allies. The loss of his Security Department colleagues drives a much fiercer side of him, turning his reserved manner into furious, relentless aggression against the monster responsible 29 31 32 33.

Arlan is also candid about practical limitations. Despite Asta’s wealth and enthusiasm, he bluntly tells her that her family cannot afford Lin Chen’s fleet 49.
