The Astral Express rescues him, and he spends several weeks aboard the train. Himeko believes he has lost almost all his memories because he knows little about even the world’s basic facts. Lin Chen also uses that explanation to justify his behavior and conceal the source of his developing abilities 2 3 13.

Himeko initially arranges permanent residency for him on Azure Star, with a stop at Herta Space Station to organize his departure. After discovering that relationships with the Express crew generate system rewards, Lin Chen seeks further opportunities to stay close to them rather than simply begin an ordinary life elsewhere 1 2.
