"Mortal, you're asking for death!"

As one of the lofty Asgardians, Loki had come to Earth intending to rule this primitive, inferior planet.

He had never expected to come to this world only to be beaten down by an Earthling. It was an immense humiliation.

Loki snorted coldly and struck the ground with his spear. A vast golden magic circle immediately appeared beneath his feet, spreading outward with him at its center.

As Loki stamped his right foot, several Magic Arrays rose into the air and fired beams of golden light at Mercer.

"Thunderclap!"

Mercer's eyes lit up, and the lightning around him abruptly swelled. It tore through the air, producing a visible ring of white shock waves that instantly canceled out the beams fired by the Magic Arrays.

His expression tightening, Loki poured divine power into the Magic Array beneath his feet again without hesitation. A hexagram rose behind him, golden magic gathering across its surface before blasting forth!

A golden beam too wide for a person's arms to encircle surged toward Mercer with terrifying pressure.

In an instant, the golden beam completely engulfed Mercer.

When the golden beam dispersed, Mercer was nowhere to be seen.

Coulson froze at the sight. "He... he was obliterated?"

Not just him-the special forces soldiers around him instinctively tightened their grips on their guns.

But they knew that the man before them was no ordinary human. Looking at that golden beam as thick as a tree trunk, they knew that if it hit them, not even ashes would remain.

This was utterly one-sided domination!

Some of them were already losing their nerve and retreated several steps. This wasn't even a fight between equals.

Seeing this, Loki snorted coldly. "So he was all show and no substance. Was that all it took to blow him apart?"

He looked at Coulson and the other visibly tense humans, feeling a rush of satisfaction. These were exactly the expressions he had wanted to see.

"Mortals, kneel and worship your new king, Loki!"

Loki spread his arms, unable to suppress the excitement in his voice.

"Your new king? You?"

A mocking voice rang out behind Loki, making him frown. He was about to turn and see which fool had a death wish when he suddenly realized that the voice sounded familiar...

Before Loki could turn around, a powerful attack packed with immense lightning struck from behind, slamming into his back.

This blow was even stronger than the first one that had sent him flying.

This lightning strike didn't knock Loki very far away. Most of the lightning pierced through his body, leaving a substantial amount inside him.

In an instant, Loki collapsed to the ground and began convulsing. Anyone who didn't know better might have thought he was breakdancing.

As he struggled, he turned to look behind him.

A figure covered entirely in lightning stood there, his face obscured by the electricity.

But Loki knew perfectly well that the only person present capable of producing lightning this powerful was the young human man he had just fought!

"You... you actually broke your body down into lightning to dodge my magic before it hit?!"

Loki's eyes filled with disbelief as he channeled his divine power to resist the lightning coursing through his body.

Only after several seconds did his convulsions gradually ease.

Watching Loki slowly climb to his feet, Mercer was equally surprised within the lightning. He spoke.

"I'm honestly surprised. I didn't expect you to attack me with magic instead of a pair of daggers. That really caught me off guard."

Brushing the dust off himself, Loki frowned at those words. "I'm the First Wizard of the Nine Realms. Attack you with daggers? Why would I be that kind of idiot?"

Mercer couldn't help laughing at that, leaving everyone baffled.

Nobody understood what he was laughing at.

Only Mercer knew that the Loki in his memories really was the very sort of idiot this Loki had just described.

This world really is interesting. It's a real world now. If I judge it solely by the movie settings I remember, I'll be the one who suffers in the end.

Mercer thought it was fortunate that he had just eaten the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, allowing him to break his body down into lightning and evade that magic attack.

With the Blacklight Virus alone, survival certainly wouldn't have been a problem.

But to regain human form, he would have needed to absorb everyone here to obtain enough energy for Mercer to return to human form.

The Blacklight Virus only offered high physical resistance. Its magical resistance was negligible, and recovering from a magical attack could prove difficult.

Having nearly been killed, Mercer certainly wasn't going to let it slide.

As Mercer felt his Pure Lightning Body, constructed entirely from lightning, his silvery-white form looked remarkably solid. He was also much taller and larger than before, making him highly intimidating.

"A body made of pure lightning? What an impressive ability. I've never seen even Thor do anything like this."

Staring fixedly at Mercer, Loki had never imagined he possessed such an ability.

Thor was called the God of Thunder, but he had never done anything like this. Most of his attacks relied on his hammer.

Against pure lightning, Loki really couldn't think of an effective countermeasure.

"But don't think this is enough to intimidate me!"

A glint of gold flashed through his icy gaze. The golden light surrounding him gathered onto his spear, and Loki kicked its butt with his right foot before charging straight at Mercer.

Brilliant golden light streaked through the air like a meteor across the heavens, hurtling toward Mercer with suffocating pressure.

As this "meteor" sped forward, it transformed in an instant, one becoming two, two becoming four...

In the blink of an eye, the sky was filled with "Lokis," every single one radiating undiminished killing intent!

"Bring it on!"

Seeing Loki advance rather than retreat, Mercer stepped forward with his right foot. Flickering lightning instantly gathered in his hands, forming an enormous lightning hammer slightly taller than he was.

Mercer swung with all his might. Trailing lightning, the giant hammer smashed straight into the golden spears filling the air before him.

BOOM!

Loki felt a terrifying force surge through his spear. Even gripping it with all his strength, he couldn't counter the tremendous power coming from the hammer.

The force drove him back step after step, and he couldn't help loosening his grip. His hands had gone numb.

Mercer, meanwhile, remained where he stood, still holding the posture of his swing.

Damn it, what the hell is this guy? Is that really an attack an Earthling can pull off?!

Loki cursed inwardly. His physical prowess wasn't particularly impressive by Asgardian standards, but on Earth, he was unquestionably superior to humans.

He could easily match peak human ability. Combined with his divine power, Loki could accomplish many feats that Earthlings believed only a "god" could perform.

Yet even his proud status as an Asgardian meant nothing before the figure of lightning standing before him.

"This... is the true God of Thunder!"
