Battling Shi Hao

With the efforts of the two boys and one beast, it did not take long for a Purple Snake and a Blood-Maned Tiger to end up in their bellies.

This little bit of food was nothing to Li Dao.

The blood furnace within his body radiated divine light. The moment the ferocious beast meat entered his stomach, it was refined completely, turning into strands of pure energy that nourished every part of his body.

Shi Hao and Furball were another matter. Both had eaten until their bellies were round, and vital essence spilled from their bodies.

Shi Hao in particular had strands of vital essence escaping through his pores. His whole body bathed in golden light, he looked like the offspring of an Immortal King, divine might evident in every inch of him.

Streaks of undying golden light radiated from his chest, wondrous to behold.

The Lotus Dao Seal surfaced in Li Dao's eyes as he looked toward Shi Hao.

He saw a precious bone wrapped in golden radiance within Shi Hao's chest. Though incomplete, it was slowly recovering beneath that vibrant, life-filled light.

Knowing this was Shi Hao's second Supreme Bone, which was still taking shape, he withdrew his gaze.

Lying on the ground beneath the countless stars overhead, Shi Hao felt warm all over, utterly comfortable.

After lying there for a while, however, he stood and said to Li Dao:

"Brother Li, where are you headed next?"

Li Dao stirred the charcoal in the fire pit. There was nothing to hide in his answer to Shi Hao's question.

"I plan to train along the way as I head toward the Stone Kingdom Imperial Capital."

"I should be able to find more opportunities there."

Shi Hao nodded at this, unable to help feeling a little disappointed.

Had they been headed the same way, they might have traveled together. Now it seemed he could only abandon that idea.

Still, he kept it in mind, thinking he would go to the Stone Kingdom Imperial Capital to find Li Dao later.

Though they had spent only a few short hours together, being around Li Dao gave him a sense of security.

He had an instinct that Li Dao was someone worth forming a deep friendship with, which was why he had asked.

"What about you?"

"Where are you headed?"

Shi Hao scratched his head and told him the purpose of his journey.

Just as I thought.

Li Dao nodded. Shi Hao had come out this time to find Shi Qingfeng at the Stone Kingdom Second Ancestral Land.

The two chatted for a while, coming to understand each other a little better.

Shi Hao had never expected that Li Dao, like himself, had been born deep within the Great Wilderness. A spark of fighting spirit flared in his eyes.

He had assumed Li Dao was a young prodigy from some great power, out gaining experience. He had never imagined their backgrounds were much the same.

That made his desire to fight grow even stronger.

Li Dao was clearly a little younger than him, yet his strength far surpassed his own.

At that thought, the heart he had managed to calm grew restless once more.

He stood and addressed Li Dao with great solemnity:

"Brother Li, how about we spar?"

Li Dao gave Shi Hao a slightly surprised look. Seeing his earnest expression and the undisguised fighting spirit in his eyes, he understood.

With a faint smile, he nodded rather than refusing Shi Hao's request. He also wanted to see how strong Shi Hao was at this point.

"The night stretches on, and sleep eludes us."

"We might as well spar and test our understanding of the Great Dao against each other."

Shi Hao's face first lit up with delight, then flushed with embarrassment.

He knew the gap between himself and Li Dao at present. There would be no testing their understanding against each other; he alone would be seeking guidance on the Dao.

Taking a deep breath, he quickly steadied his emotions. He would remember this kindness.

Moonlight spilled like mercury across the ground, draping a veil of silver over the danger-filled Great Wilderness.

Ferocious beasts with bodies as massive as mountains and auras as mighty as rivers and seas moved among the towering ancient trees from time to time.

Their deafening roars made the earth tremble.

Yet all the ferocious beasts instinctively skirted one open stretch of level ground, as though something even more terrifying held dominion there.

"Let's spar here."

"Use your full strength. I won't draw on my Cave Heaven Realm power."

A sharp gleam flashed through Shi Hao's eyes at these words. If they were relying solely on Blood Moving Realm strength, he was confident he would not fall short of anyone.

He had broken through the hundred-thousand-jin extreme realm, and the battles he had experienced throughout his journey were too numerous to count.

His combat experience would not lose to anyone's.

Thus, even against Li Dao, he was confident he could put up a fight.

Still, he did not let himself relax too much. Li Dao could effortlessly slaughter a Spirit Transformation Realm ferocious beast while in the Cave Heaven Realm.

With combat prowess like that, his foundations in the Blood Moving Realm had to be exceptionally profound!

"Watch out!"

Shi Hao took a deep breath, his gaze sharpening as fighting spirit surged from his eyes like a raging river.

The blood and vital energy within his body surged. A faint golden sheen rose over his skin, and he pivoted, stamping hard against the ground.

Rumble-

The earth beneath his feet cracked inch by inch, and his figure shot toward Li Dao like an arrow loosed from a bow.

In a single instant, he reached Li Dao and unleashed a punch. Though his fist was small, its swing tore through the air with sharp reports.

Golden radiance surrounded him. As his fist hurtled forward, it carried the faint momentum of a heavenly pillar toppling.

The strength of the hundred-thousand-jin extreme realm erupted through his hand. Against someone like Li Dao, he would not ease into the fight.

Facing Shi Hao's fierce charge, Li Dao had not expected him to strike with his full strength right from the start.

His expression barely changed. He aligned his waist and stance, sank his qi into his dantian, and waited for Shi Hao's fist to descend.

As the fist arrived, he slowly raised his right hand to block it.

-Clang!

Though his movement seemed slow, he intercepted Shi Hao's fist with perfect accuracy. As fist met palm, metallic clangs rang out.

All the tremendous force in Shi Hao's fist poured forth, yet Li Dao remained completely unmoved.

He was like a divine needle anchoring the sea: no matter how the towering waves battered him, his form did not shift.

Boom, crack-

The earth behind Li Dao, however, exploded, sending dirt and stones flying.

The ground rippled like waves on water before bursting apart at the outermost edge.

Feeling the force transmitted through his fist, Shi Hao's expression tightened. His punch felt as though it had struck a piece of divine iron, incomparably hard.

Without the slightest discouragement, he turned his punch into an elbow strike and attacked Li Dao once more.

Li Dao remained unhurried as he fought Shi Hao, his movements effortless and fluid. Yet the blasts of air erupting whenever their fists and feet met revealed the ferocity of their attacks.

As Shi Hao's fists rained down, Li Dao merely countered each move.

He had gained a preliminary understanding of Shi Hao's strength.

In the Blood Moving Realm, Shi Hao could already look down upon his peers. Unfortunately, he had met Li Dao!

Seeing another punch coming, Li Dao let Dao patterns flash across his hand. He caught Shi Hao's fist and pulled it toward himself.

Throwing Shi Hao off balance, he lowered his shoulder and rammed forward. Though Shi Hao had anticipated it, he was still sent flying.

-Thud!

Shi Hao slammed into the ground. Feeling the burning pain in his arm, his expression turned grave.

Had he not blocked with his arm at the critical moment, a solid hit to his chest would have left him unable to fight, even if it did not seriously injure him.

Then he would have lost outright!
