Even knowing that Emperor Bone Brother's true nature towered far above his own, Yuangeng still found it hard to feel much awe toward this emperor. Dressed in casual clothes, he looked nothing like an Immortal Emperor who slaughtered foes across Above the Heavens. Instead, he looked even more like a traveler than Yuangeng himself, relaxed and at ease.
Only when they discussed this tributary of the River of Time did the emperor's expression grow slightly serious. His gaze seemed to have already pierced through the past, present, and future of the universe below before he turned to Yuangeng. "You must have realized that the darkness in this universe came from the Dark Immortal Emperor who once stood on the Other Shore of the Boundary Sea-in other words, my dark self. Desolate slew him back then, but he left contingencies behind, infiltrating Desolate's home realm in the hope of reviving one day."
As he spoke, the Immortal Emperor glanced at Yuangeng. Only after seeing him nod did he continue, "Normally, before the Desolate Heaven Emperor and his Self-Manifestation, the vast majority of those dark contingencies could never succeed. But history has countless trillions of possible courses. One contingency left by my dark self succeeded on one timeline, disrupting karma and giving rise to this tributary of the River of Time."
Yuangeng listened intently to every word Emperor Bone Brother spoke. For a being at the End of the Path, every breath encompassed myriad laws, and every movement embodied the Great Dao. Even if this was not necessarily his true body, his presence still greatly benefited Yuangeng's cultivation.
"Do you mean, Immortal Emperor, that even with a chance as tiny as one in countless trillions, your dark self could return?
