Background / History

Wushi’s Dog and Retained Experience

The Black Emperor was raised by Great Emperor Wushi. His demon body had been baptized in a Great Emperor’s blood essence and reforged through nirvana. Although his cultivation later declined, he retained the knowledge and perspective of a former Great Saint 75 91 256.

At Wushi’s dojo, he tried to seize the medicine kings but was pinned down by the Dao Platform’s primal chaos. His familiarity with imperial matters did not exempt him from the restrictions Wushi left behind 64.

Travels with Qin Tian

A malfunctioning Profound Jade Platform transported the Black Emperor and Qin Tian into the Primordial Ancient Mine. His pursuit of a jade pendant exposed him to an invisible attacker, forcing Qin Tian to rescue him. The pair eventually escaped after exploring an ancient temple and Emperor Hengyu’s weapon-forging grounds 75 77.

At Saint Cliff, he claimed he could guide Qin Tian, Jiang Taixu, and Fairy Caiyun through Wushi’s formation, only to suffer repeated divine lightning strikes. He nevertheless supplied an incomplete Wushi Emperor Formation scroll and successfully studied Nine Secrets: Xing with the group 87 88 89 91.

He subsequently profited from the merchant association’s fraudulent Source scheme and delayed his departure to make one final score. Qin Tian’s next teleportation stranded him in the Western Desert, which Qin Tian blamed on the Black Emperor’s interference with his platforms 98 99.

Qin Tian later tracked him down and made hotpot from his severed legs. The Black Emperor’s appetite overcame his horror: he joined the meal and ate his own flesh while his limbs regenerated. Leftover meat from this encounter was later roasted for Xiao Nannan 122 155.

Reunion with Ye Fan

After Qin Tian left him in the Eastern Wasteland, the Black Emperor joined Ye Fan’s companions. When Yaoguang cultivators pursued them, he attempted an ambush with an Emperor Killing Formation fragment. Reinforcements broke his trap, but his bluff about summoning Qin Tian unexpectedly succeeded because Qin Tian was already nearby 255.

Learning that Wushi remained alive delighted him. He immediately announced plans to collect a hundred “human pets,” while Qin Tian revealed to the others that he was the dog Wushi had raised 256.

His treasure hunting remained hazardous. In the Eternal Dragon Cave, he ignored Qin Tian’s warning and was caught by a scarlet pearl that drained his blood essence. Qin Tian shattered it and freed him 258.

Heavenly Court Leadership

The Black Emperor became the Heavenly Court’s actual controller while Qin Tian pursued cultivation. He trained its soldiers, commanded territorial expansion, and built an army whose resolve Qin Tian explicitly praised 430 432 435.

During the Underworld campaign, he ordered the Saint Sacrifice Grand Formation activated to replenish the Heavenly Soldiers. He later accompanied Qin Tian to Big Dipper as Qin Tian prepared to confront the Forbidden Zones 442 451.

His pursuit of stronger physiques produced a failed attempt to absorb a Great Accomplished Tyrant Body’s origin. Wushi personally removed the absorbed power and stopped him, preventing a course that would have compromised his future cultivation 522.

Heavenly Emperor and Expedition Commander

After reaching Heavenly Emperorhood, he periodically governed the Lower Realm during Ye Fan’s seclusion, leaving successive “Black Emperor Eras.” His rule made life so miserable that households developed a habit of eating dog meat. Despite retaining considerable prestige in the army, he spent a hundred thousand years imprisoned, and his treasury was confiscated for redistribution 657.

Later, he approached surrendered Immortal Domain beings hoping to extort their wealth. Qin Tian secretly altered their memories and induced them to attack him. His escape techniques and regeneration kept him alive, but veteran True Immortals repeatedly overwhelmed him 658.

During the Age of Great Voyages, he captained a Kunpeng warship and sought wealth from Immortal Domain fragments. He also used his accumulated riches to lobby old friends for the world-governing position Ye Fan was preparing to relinquish, hoping it would help him stop being the weakest Heavenly Emperor 663 666.

As an expeditionary commander, he was surrounded by five Undying Ones and entered his fourth lifetime under pressure. The breakthrough did not reverse the battle: Ye Fan rescued him, killed the five enemies, and then faced three arriving Weirdness Kings 690.

Appearance

  • Black canine body: Usually covered in black fur; he later appears at a size comparable to a mountain 91 658.
  • Upright posture: Frequently stands on his hind legs with his paws on his hips, wearing baggy shorts or bright red underpants 87 256.
  • Blade-like teeth: His silver teeth are compared to Heavenly Blades and can sever an enemy’s head 329 432.
  • Third eye: Used in conjunction with the Yang Spirit System to develop enhanced spiritual perception 454.
  • Bell: Wears a bell at his chest or neck, capable of glowing and activating void runes 75 432.
  • Captain’s attire: Adopts a pirate hat and an eye patch when commanding the Kunpeng warship 663.

Personality

The Black Emperor is greedy, boastful, and habitually willing to fleece his acquaintances. He regrets Qin Tian’s ability to anticipate his scams, covets Qin Tian’s treasures, and recruits allies into schemes before trying to claim the entire reward himself 69 483. His appetite is equally extreme: even discovering that a hotpot contained his own flesh did not stop him from eating it 122.

His unreliability is not always deliberate. Qin Tian considers his unpredictable teleportation failures more dangerous than his calculated swindles, since even the Black Emperor cannot reliably anticipate when his own methods will fail 99.

Beneath the bluster, he is an effective organizer and demanding trainer. His military achievements earn Qin Tian’s tolerance, while his continued loyalty to Wushi makes him fiercely protective of his master’s reputation 435 527 752.
