Background / History
Securing Jiang Family Protection
Luo Qingluan was the Luo Family’s eldest young lady and had been close to Luo Yue since her niece’s childhood. She knew the mischievous side of Luo Yue that many other relatives overlooked, including the incident in which five-year-old Luo Yue swindled an unscrupulous Daoist at a gambling workshop 3 13.
When Old Master Luo collapsed after entering the Divine Source Ancient Mine, Qingluan proposed taking Luo Yue to the Jiang Family to obtain protection. The plan succeeded, but Luo Yue had to adopt the Jiang surname. Afraid that the old patriarch would punish her for suggesting it, Qingluan asked her niece to shelter her and left Jiang Wei’s ship before it reached Luo City 4 5.
The Great Evolution Stone-Gambling Dispute
Qingluan returned with a Source Stone purchased for eight hundred jin of pure Source. Luo Yue discovered that its contents had been removed and its shell resealed. Furious, Qingluan wanted to confront the Great Evolution gambling house immediately, but her niece warned that an attack would endanger the Luo Family’s already precarious position 12.
The next morning, Qingluan brought her entire reserve of two thousand jin of pure Source to the Great Evolution Stone Pavilion. She challenged Li Huan, who had encouraged her to buy the counterfeit stone, and accepted his high-stakes wager on Luo Yue’s advice. Her niece selected stones yielding greenwood source crystal and ice soul jade marrow; Li Huan’s side ultimately owed 110,000 jin of pure Source 13 15 17.
A Fire Cloud Palace supreme elder later delivered the payment. The Luo Family retained most of it but left Qingluan enough spending money to delight her. The victory briefly freed her from her reputation as someone who lost every bet 22.
Qingluan subsequently gathered Luo Qingying and Jiang Wei for another visit to Great Evolution. During Luo Yue’s confrontation with Ghost Eye, she supported her niece and watched for retaliation. As Luo Yue opened further valuable stones, Qingluan directed the family guards to collect the treasures 23 26 30.
Ancient Mine Expedition and Relocation
Qingluan repeatedly encouraged Luo Yue to investigate the ancient mine, convinced that her niece’s apparent divine eyes could uncover its secrets. After encountering Duan De, she wanted to attack him for targeting the Luo Family’s ancestral tombs, but Luo Yue restrained her 37.
She helped assemble Jiang Wei and the Hengyu Furnace for the nighttime expedition. Witnessing the ensuing upheaval—including the appearance of four emperor weapons and an ancient goddess—shook her enough to suggest that they stop joining every commotion 38 43.
Old Master Luo then ordered Qingluan to accompany Luo Yue to the Jiang Family and live with her. On Cangming Divine Island, Qingluan brought roughly a dozen trusted attendants to manage their daily needs rather than the several hundred servants she had originally considered 44 45.
Life on Cangming Divine Island
While Luo Yue spent long periods cultivating, Qingluan managed the island’s affairs. She appreciated its freedom and quiet but found the lack of entertainment—and especially stone gambling—difficult to endure 55 58.
She also became an unwilling test opponent for her niece. Luo Yue first froze her protective flames with a Divine King Body vision, then later challenged her after reaching the Other Shore Stage. Qingluan resisted the initial exchange but surrendered when Luo Yue combined several visions and offensive arts 22 55.
Luan Li Stone Pavilion
During Luo Yue’s seven years of seclusion, Qingluan resumed stone gambling and repeatedly lost. She borrowed Source from Yao Li and joined her in establishing a stone-gambling business near the Jiang Family 58.
By the time Luo Yue visited their Luan Li Stone Pavilion in Blackrock City, the business was struggling and Qingluan owed Yao Li several thousand Source. She had also taken a small stake, on the Luo Family’s behalf, in a Yao Family source mine. The Li Family undercut their business, stole stones, and disrupted mining operations, with guards and workers killed 62.
Qingluan asked Luo Yue to gamble the Li Family’s shop into ruin. When Li Mao later confronted them, she openly accused his family of colluding with bandit raiders and killing miners and guards. Luo Yue secured the business and mine with the Jiang Family Sacred Lord’s token 62 67.
Appearance
Qingluan is described as a beautiful, slender woman whose fiery-red clothing reinforces her spirited bearing 13 22 23.
- Eyes: Beautiful phoenix eyes; another passage describes them as almond-shaped 22 38.
- Brows: Delicate, willow-leaf brows 18 45.
- Clothing: A fiery-red outfit suitable for movement, a red fox-fur cloak, and embroidered shoes 13 23 24.
- Hair: Wears her hair in a carefully arranged bun during her time on Cangming Divine Island 55.
Personality
Qingluan is proud, outspoken, and quick to anger when outsiders insult or exploit her family. On Luo territory, she readily points at opponents and curses them; after Old Master Luo punished the family’s enemies, she complained that he had been too lenient toward the masterminds 3 13 18.
Her affection for Luo Yue is demonstrative and fiercely protective. She hugs and kisses her niece, warns her about predatory Source Arts families and Jiang Family infighting, and challenges Jiang Wei when a Dao Palace flood dragon attacks the younger Luo Yue 15 23 46 62.
Stone gambling is her persistent weakness. She celebrates wins prematurely, becomes restless without gambling, and returns to it despite repeated losses and mounting debt. Luo Yue considers her unreliable, while Qingluan herself acknowledges her mediocre talent and poor fighting ability 16 33 55 58.
Her bravado has limits: she fears the old patriarch’s punishment, grows subdued after witnessing emperor-weapon confrontations, and readily surrenders when her niece’s attacks become overwhelming 12 43 55.
Abilities & Skills
Qing Luan Rending the Sky
Qingluan’s principal offensive divine art manifests an azure divine luan wing hundreds of feet long 55.
- Slashes downward with immense divine power and a shriek that tears through the void.
- Is described as powerful enough to cleave a small mountain.
- In sparring, Luo Yue met it head-on and drove Qingluan back over a hundred feet, though she remained unharmed by that exchange 55.
Heartfire Divine Treasury
Her Heartfire Divine Treasury produces scorching fire-element divine power 22.
- Forms a crimson layer of Protective Divine Flame around her body.
- Its flames are hot enough to melt metal and iron.
- Could not withstand Luo Yue’s Divine King Body chill: the flames froze almost immediately, and Qingluan’s divine-power circulation became sluggish 22.
Stone Gambling and Estate Management
- Knows gambling conventions and proposes a best-of-three contest with additional payments based on the winner’s treasures 14 16.
- Has no demonstrated reliable stone-appraisal skill; her major victories depend on Luo Yue’s selections 13 15 17 58.
- Directs servants and guards, arranges lodgings, and manages Cangming Divine Island during Luo Yue’s absences 30 48 58.
Relationships
- Luo Yue / Jiang Yue — Beloved paternal niece, companion, and source of gambling success. Qingluan knows her childhood mischievousness and increasingly treats her extraordinary abilities as a dependable source of support 13 23 45.
- Yao Li — Close friend, creditor, and business partner. Yao Li repeatedly lends her Source despite finding her pestering exhausting; together they operate the Luan Li Stone Pavilion 14 58 62.
- Luo Qingying — Third elder brother. Qingluan recruits him for confrontations and regards his Dragon Transformation cultivation as far beyond her own 23 37 55.
- Jiang Wei — Jiang Family escort and ally. Initially rebuffed her attempts to curry favor, but later became familiar enough that she addressed him without formal politeness 3 45.
- Old Master Luo — Family patriarch whose displeasure she fears. He assigns her to accompany Luo Yue and live with her in the Jiang Family 4 12 45.
- Luo Yue’s father — Deceased eldest brother. Qingluan maintains that, had he survived, he could have matched the prominent fighters at the ancient mine 39.
- Li Huan — Gambling adversary who encouraged her counterfeit-stone purchase and then attempted to exploit her through a high-stakes wager 13 18.
- Duan De — Distrusted tomb robber who had targeted the Luo Family’s ancestral graves. She wanted to attack him but helped Luo Yue use him to investigate the mine instead 37 38.
