"Honestly, Dad-"
Audrey felt a little disappointed that she had failed to get the answer she wanted from her father.
She planned to discreetly ask her other noble friends about the Guanqian Stock Market the next time she attended a salon.
"I hope-Mr. World really did just get it wrong."
Lifting her skirts, she walked briskly up the stairs, ready to return to her room. But as soon as she reached the door, she heard some unusual noises inside.
"Susie, are you back from your walk?"
"Woof! Audrey! I brought a friend home!"
When Audrey pushed the door open, Susie immediately sprang up from the carpet and ran over to her, tongue out and tail wagging.
"A friend?" Audrey was a little bewildered. What friends could Susie have? Dogs belonging to other noble families?
"It's her!" Susie raised a forepaw and pointed at the orange cat sitting on the windowsill nearby. "My new friend!"
"Meow~"
Lucky noticed the commotion too. She turned toward Audrey and gave an elegant, languid meow.
"A cat?" Audrey was a little surprised. "Susie, your friend-is a cat?"
"What's wrong with having a cat as a friend?" Susie shook her fluffy head, puzzled.
"But-but aren't you a dog?" Audrey instinctively pointed out the "problem" that would have been obvious to most people.
"Can't dogs and cats be friends?" Susie blinked her big, clear eyes.
"Uh-"
I suppose-there really isn't any rule against it.
"How long have you known her?" Audrey tried another question, hoping to make sense of the situation.
"We only met today!" Susie happily stuck out her tongue.
She only just met her, and already brought her home?
"Ahem-Susie, you can't do that." Audrey cleared her throat, her tone growing more serious. "How could you bring a suspicious stray cat home?"
