The carriage traveled through the silent night for ten or so minutes before finally stopping in front of a cluster of dilapidated buildings.
Lorne lifted the curtain over the carriage window and looked outside. A cluster of ruined buildings loomed before him, looking particularly sinister in the darkness. From nearby came the faint rushing of river water.
"A dock?"
"This is the West Balam dockyard. It's been abandoned for a year and is about to be redeveloped," Maric's hoarse voice came from beside him. "Our planned ambush site is in its warehouse district."
The Tussock River was right beside it-if anything truly went wrong, they could always jump into the river and escape. Lorne analyzed the surroundings as he stepped out of the carriage.
Then he followed Sharron and Maric deeper into the abandoned dockyard.
After walking for about five or six minutes, they reached an open area enclosed by several enormous warehouses.
"My Zombies are sleeping underground here. Watch your step." Maric pointed out several spots as he warned him.
Buried underground-Night of the Living Dead? Hearing his description, Lorne suddenly recalled an old movie he had once watched.
Sharron surveyed their surroundings. Once she confirmed that nothing was amiss, she told Lorne, "Make your preparations. We'll go lure the enemies here."
"This won't take more than thirty minutes. Keep track of the time." She paused, then added, "Once you're ready, hide in any one of the warehouses. Don't rush to act. You must be patient."
"Wait until I become weak and the Scarlet Lunar Corona appears, then launch a surprise attack on Steve, the Wraith."
"The plan-doesn't sound complicated." Lorne rested a hand against his chin, considering it.
"The simpler a plan is, the more effective it often proves," Sharron replied calmly.
"Mm..." Lorne nodded, his expression grave.
