Sequence 5 — Potion fully digested 347 413 Her advancement is held back by materials and ritual resources rather than a lack of high-sequence formulas. Lorne later confirms that she finished digesting her Wraith potion long ago.
Sequence 4 — Marionette preparation (not yet attained) 414 494 501 502 Accepts Zartwin’s characteristic from Lorne. The ritual requires a divinity-bearing mummy connected to her pathway. With the mummy delivered, she plans to attempt advancement in a couple of days; success is not documented.

Background / History

Sharron studied under Reinette Tinekerr, the leader of the Temperance Faction. Reinette died protecting Sharron and several other core members from the Indulgence Faction’s upper ranks. Afterward, Sharron and Maric fled the Southern Continent, concealed their identities, and eventually reached Backlund 413 414.

Years of flight left them short of money: much of Sharron’s wealth had either remained in the Southern Continent or been spent during their escape. Although she disliked appearing in public, she accepted dangerous paid work to purchase a Mystical Item. Her Gothic court gowns were among her few personal expenses and were worn in memory of her teacher 267.

Her early work with Lorne included paid protection and assistance against Rose School enemies. After an attack during a fight with a Demoness, she reported losing her memories. Even when Lorne offered to settle the remaining payment, she insisted that their agreement still included two more days of protection 216.

Appearance

Sharron has a slender figure, pale skin, blond hair, blue eyes, and delicate features repeatedly compared to an exquisite doll 267 290 414.

  • Usual clothing: An elaborate black Gothic court gown and a small black bonnet 267 317.
  • Manner of movement: Often floats slightly above the floor or appears as a translucent figure 267 465.
  • Voice: Cool, ethereal, and usually without noticeable emotional fluctuation 224 268.
  • Bayam disguise: A conservative light-colored dress, broad white sunhat, and altered facial appearance replace her usual Gothic attire 465.

Personality

Sharron practices temperance through restraint of desires, emotions, and outward expression. She usually speaks briefly, remains motionless when not occupied, and maintains a doll-like composure. Her insistence on completing her protection contract reflects her seriousness about obligations 216 224 502.

She is deeply loyal to her companions. During the dockyard battle, she urges Lorne to escape but refuses to abandon the incapacitated Maric. Her later determination to become a demigod is tied to gathering and sheltering scattered Temperance Faction members, as well as becoming strong enough to help Lorne 273 501.

Lorne’s repeated protection unsettles her restraint. She feels gratitude and affection but also frustration at being unable to share his burdens. Rather than accepting endless assistance, she worries about unpayable debts and eventually decides that giving her emotions an appropriate outlet is healthier than suppressing them without limit 406 413 417.

Her affection develops a possessive side. She investigates women connected to Lorne, reacts jealously to Tracy, and worries that political obligations might force “Viscount Scott” into a marriage alliance. She recognizes these feelings as a challenge to her temperance rather than treating them as ordinary faction doctrine 417 426 488 502.

Abilities & Skills

Wraith Form and Concealment

Sharron can become transparent, disappear from sight, float, and pass through walls. Wraith form allows her to evade most physical damage 215 267 302 414.

  • Appears silently near windows or within rooms, making her presence difficult to notice 267 317.
  • Successfully avoids detection by royal bodyguards around a social gathering 317.
  • Cannot hide from Lorne’s “absolute intuition” after he becomes a Sequence 4 demigod 347.
  • Can be forcibly returned to a corporeal state by the Scarlet Lunar Corona’s moonlight unless she is its wielder 410.

Possession

Sharron can possess another being and control its movements 210.

  • Possesses the Werewolf pursuing Xio and makes it twist its own neck 210.
  • Is herself vulnerable to possession: Steve attempts it during the dockyard battle, and Zartwin’s ambush subjects her Spirit Body to another forcible possession attempt 273 410.
  • Resisting Zartwin’s attack consumes considerable spirituality and requires a charm supplied by Lorne 410 411.

Wraith Shriek and Supernatural Restraint

Sharron uses a Wraith Shriek against Steve after recovering her strength through the Scarlet Lunar Corona. She also restrains Jason the Zombie before an ominous black door described as the Bronze Gate 273.

  • Finishes Jason while he is already restrained by the gate 273.
  • Her shriek brings down the mutilated, headless Steve 273.
  • Her combat effectiveness is severely reduced when the full-moon curse takes effect 268 273.

Spirit World Traversal

Sharron travels through the Spirit World and assists with transporting people and valuables 465 494.

  • Accompanies Lorne from Tiana Harbor to Bayam through the Spirit World 465.
  • Escorts Maric into the Spirit World for his advancement ritual 347 382.
  • Helps move the Laurel’s treasure, transporting the important mummy together with Maric 494.
  • Cannot access the Spirit World within the anomalous waters encountered at sea 474.

Mysticism and Divination

As Reinette’s student, Sharron possesses extensive Beyonder knowledge and high-sequence potion formulas 347.

  • Teaches Lorne using the Book of Secrets 317.
  • Explains pathway curses, Rose School history, and religious matters involving the Sanguine and the Primordial Moon 268 334 414.
  • Uses divination to locate a concealed tomb entrance along the Stratford River, then warns Maric against entering because of its danger 302.

Etiquette and Dancing

Sharron’s dancing and aristocratic etiquette are accomplished enough for her to blend into high-society gatherings 313 317.

  • Guides Lorne through an elegant dance that attracts other guests’ attention 313.
  • Notices that his habit of lowering his body while dancing is inappropriate outside his practice with Xio 304.
  • Is confident that her elegance and etiquette can match those of Backlund’s noblewomen 502.

Full-Moon Curse

A Wraith must consume human souls during the full moon or become extremely weak. Consuming souls carries an ongoing risk of losing control, making the curse particularly restrictive for the Temperance Faction 268.

  • The Scarlet Lunar Corona can reproduce full-moon conditions within its range 268.
  • Those conditions weaken Temperance Faction members while empowering their Indulgence Faction counterparts 268.
  • The Corona’s wearer is exempt from the full-moon curse 268.
