Danitz could barely breathe under the Demoness's oppressive presence, but he still wanted to explain himself, hoping she would let him off for Brando's sake.
But when he saw Tracy's expression growing darker, the words caught in his throat.
He couldn't understand the logic of the woman before him, nor did he know what he should say to save his life.
Still, to be fair, he was beginning to understand why Brando had run away back then.
"Hmph..."
Tracy snorted softly, a flicker of brutality flashing through her eyes. Without giving Danitz another chance to speak, she twitched her fingers and gagged him again.
Then she waved a hand in disgust.
Second Mate Kayson, who had been staring at her in infatuated awe, finally snapped out of his daze. He hurriedly summoned several subordinates, who set to work on Danitz.
"Mmph! Mmmph!"
Tracy paid no attention to Danitz as her men dragged him away roughly, struggling desperately all the while. She merely clenched her fists without realizing it.
Standing where she was, she took a deep breath.
Thinking it over, there was actually some sense in what Danitz had just said.
Setting those misunderstandings aside, Brando really had spent all his time with Danitz when he was at sea. They probably had a good relationship, or at least trusted each other. After all, even the astronomical bounty of ten thousand pounds hadn't made Danitz betray Brando and driven the two apart.
But even though she understood all that rationally, Tracy couldn't stop a fierce surge of rage from rising within her, along with... profound jealousy!
She was furious because, whatever his reasons, that meddlesome idiot Danitz had taken her Brando
