"Hey, hey... Gehrman, is that you?"
Hanging upside down from the Black Death's mast, Danitz struggled to swing his body, trying to wake his new "roommate" beside him.
Although the man's face was covered in dried blood and his hair was a tangled mess, making his original appearance impossible to discern, Danitz's pirate instincts told him that this was the crazy adventurer.
After all, at a time like this, no one besides Gehrman was likely to come rescue him.
Who knows what's going on with that Brando fellow? There's still been no word from him... He grumbled inwardly again.
Beside him, perhaps because Danitz's loud voice had finally worked, or perhaps because the biting sea wind at night was too irritating, the semiconscious Klein gradually began to respond.
His body twitched slightly, and with a muffled groan of pain, he slowly opened his eyes.
"I... where am I?"
Illness and blood loss had left Klein's voice terribly hoarse and his mind groggy. After opening his eyes, he found that the entire world before him was upside down. For a moment, he failed to grasp his predicament.
"Gehrman! Gehrman!"
Only when Danitz's somewhat impatient calls reached him did Klein abruptly snap out of his confusion.
I'm on a ship! And I... seem to be hanging upside down from the mast?!
Damn it! How did I become a "Hanged Man" too?!
Earlier, I was lamenting Mr. Hanged Man's and Danitz's miserable experiences. Who knew the tables would turn... and I'd actually...
No! This is no time to dwell on that!
He recalled what had happened before he lost consciousness and hurriedly closed his eyes, checking his body's condition to see whether any parts were missing...
Phew... thank goodness, my face is still here! It's disfigured, but at least it wasn't gouged off...
