"Klein... do you worship an evil god?"
"Huh?"
God only knew what went through Klein's mind when he heard Leonard ask that question.
Only the Clown's exceptional control over his facial expressions kept him from making a strange face.
He forced a smile and looked at his two teammates.
"How could I possibly worship an evil god?"
"What made you think that?"
Frye and Leonard exchanged a glance before Frye answered:
"As I said, someone reported you."
"And they named you specifically."
"Reported me?" Klein was rather shocked.
He couldn't understand why someone had reported him again!
Counting the incident shortly after his transmigration, he had already been reported twice in a very short time.
As silence settled over them, Frye spoke up to explain.
"Here's what happened. The letter the Mandated Punishers received yesterday reported two things. One concerned Old Neil. Following the clues in the letter, the Mandated Punishers found his home and confirmed that the information was correct."
Frye turned to face Klein directly.
"The other concerned you, Klein."
"The letter said that your behavior was extremely strange and that you had been conducting strange rituals in private."
So that's what this is about... Klein racked his brains for a defense.
"When I first entered the Beyonder domain, I was indeed curious about certain rituals, but everything I performed was a legitimate mysticism ritual."
"As a Nighthawk, it's perfectly reasonable for me to practice magic rituals and the like."
Frye offered no opinion and continued.
"That isn't the point. Most importantly, the letter said you possessed power bestowed by an unknown entity."
An unknown entity? Could that mean the Fool?
Or that gray fog... Hearing this, Klein began to panic.
Frye didn't bring this up in front of everyone. He probably still trusts me.
