After a brief investigation, Klein pinpointed the church's location.
Harvest Church was one of the few churches belonging to the Church of the Earth Mother in the Loen Kingdom, and the only church in Backlund that worshipped the Earth Mother.
The golden-yellow church had a prominent spire and a Holy Emblem of Life engraved on its outer wall-a stylized infant surrounded by symbols of wheat ears, flowers, and spring water. It stood in stark contrast to the surrounding buildings.
Unless something unexpected happened, this should be the place... Klein took a deep breath and pushed open the church door.
Inside the church hall, rows of seats were neatly arranged. A huge Holy Emblem of Life hung at the front, with lit candles on either side. A tall man in his forties or fifties, dressed in brown clerical robes, sat in one of the front-row seats.
Even sitting there, he exerted an overwhelming pressure, giving the impression of an enormous brown bear.
Definitely a Beyonder, and not a low-sequence one!
Klein's spiritual intuition immediately went on alert.
"Hello, sir." As expected, the man noticed Klein and greeted him. His voice was surprisingly gentle, entirely at odds with his towering frame, but his gray eyes were as sharp as blades. "This is a sacred place dedicated to the Mother Goddess."
"Are you the bishop here?" Klein walked openly into the church.
The tall man in brown episcopal robes answered gently:
"My name is Utravsky, but I prefer to be called Father Utravsky."
Klein bowed slightly, then told the truth. "Sorry for the intrusion, Father Utravsky. I'm looking for a gentleman named Emlyn White."
