Charlotte made no attempt to hide her surprise and asked outright.
Although she had only recently heard about "messengers" from Tres Tamara, his description and her own imagination had led her to understand them as Spirit World creatures that traveled through the Spirit World, swiftly delivering letters handed over by summoners to the people they were contracted to.
But she had assumed that such a convenient-sounding method was reserved for powerful Beyonders, or that summoning one required certain Sealed Artifacts. It certainly wasn't something a newly advanced Sheriff like her was qualified to obtain.
Yet from Morvan's tone, having a messenger didn't seem particularly difficult, as long as she wanted one?

"Of course you can. But first, you need to understand that this isn't something easily accomplished. Even Beyonders must fulfill at least three prerequisites to have a chance.
"First, you must know enough about Spirit World creatures to understand which ones can communicate and serve as messengers, then summon them with an appropriate incantation that points to them. Second, the chosen Spirit World creature must be willing to become your messenger, whether voluntarily or under coercion. This is closely tied to the first prerequisite. If you summon an unfriendly entity and lack the ability to subdue or banish it, the consequences are obvious...
"Finally, both parties must sign a contract witnessed by a sufficiently powerful force, clearly defining their respective duties.
"Not many Beyonders can satisfy all three conditions. Examples include mid-Sequence Beyonders of the Corpse Collector, or Death, Pathway...
