Danitz's future

Neph had acted out of habit. After discovering that she had unwittingly developed a little faith in the True Creator, she had rather given up on herself and allowed her occasional spontaneous prayers to continue.

Klein usually ignored her gestures. Putting himself in her shoes, he understood that there was nothing strange about Neph developing faith in the True Creator. Faced with a god who had saved her and genuinely existed, having no faith would have been the unusual response.

But Klein had a certain amount of confidence in the education of his homeland. His fellow countrymen might develop faith, but they would never become truly devout believers, especially once they learned of the existence of Sequence 0.

After all, when humans could potentially wield the authority of gods, their reverence for those gods would naturally diminish.

Danitz, however, thought otherwise. He watched Neph's gesture, then glanced at Gehrman Sparrow, his eyes filling with complete understanding.

Ever since their first meeting, he had suspected that Gehrman Sparrow was a lunatic beneath the surface. Judging by her words and actions, this girl who knew Gehrman Sparrow well hardly seemed normal either. If they were both believers of an evil god, everything made sense.

I just don't know which one they worship. That gesture... forget it. I'll ask the Captain when I get back-

As Danitz made his plans, the Black Death passed them without incident. Neph gazed out the window, her thoughts already having moved away from him.

If I remember correctly, Helene only escaped from the Black Death with Katarina's help. Now that Medici has possessed Katarina, she probably can't do that anymore. Then-

Without Helene as an opening, never mind Klein's original plan of disguising himself as Helene to board the ship and digest his potion-even Neph
