Investigation
After nightfall, the Black Death docked at Tiana's private harbor.
Although oversight here was lax, Klein had not brought the entire fleet closer. As usual, he approached the harbor with only the Black Death, making it easier to escape if anything unexpected happened.
Upon learning this, Neph went ashore alone, deliberately avoiding Klein. After spending several days together, she had realized that when two people aboard a ship were both in disguise and knew each other, it was difficult for them to maintain those disguises in private.
This was hardly helpful for acting as a Faceless. If Klein's condition had been poor, however, it would have been a useful way to stabilize him.
Sitting in a seaside restaurant, Neph firmly refused any fish, chose other dishes, and quietly waited for her food.
Come to think of it, I still have shares in the bicycle-no, the Pedal Bicycle business in Backlund. Given how much time has passed, my dividends should be considerable. Unfortunately, I can't go back to collect them now, and my identity makes things inconvenient too. Hmm, perhaps I could have Klein leave a mailing address when he goes back? I'm just worried that official Beyonders might turn up along with the dividends... "Daisy," her mother, Liv, called in the dream as she washed clothes as usual, addressing Daisy, who was helping with the ironing. "We have a visitor. Go open the door."
Daisy answered and was just about to stand when the visitor pushed open the half-closed door, revealing his face.
He was a young man in a police uniform with a black-and-white checked pattern, with black hair, green eyes, and somewhat indistinct features. Holding a notebook and fountain pen, he asked:
"Regarding the Capim Case, is there anything you haven't mentioned besides what you've already told us?"
