Infiltration
The charred puppet's expression and exact material were impossible to make out. Neph held it under the moonlight for a few seconds and found that all she could determine was that it was humanoid.
She lowered her hand, glanced at the red moon overhead, and pondered for a few seconds. For now, she refrained from investigating the puppet's past.
Out of reverence for a pillar, Neph did not believe Alex had come here merely to die-considering that he had survived, the only thing his visit might have accomplished was exposing himself.
That sounded too ridiculous. Neph preferred to believe that Alex's purpose had been to deliver this puppet.
But what use did it have?
Under her special Spirit Vision, the charred puppet was filled with blood-red moonlight, proclaiming whom it belonged to. Yet the lightning marks riddling that moonlight showed that it had already been destroyed.
Moreover, Neph was certain that this thing contained no Beyonder characteristics.
Although the absence of Beyonder characteristics did not mean it lacked unusual properties, it made figuring out what this thing actually did a great deal harder for Neph.
Neph frowned at it for a long while before giving up again. Whatever the puppet's origins, at least one thing was certain: if she dared carry it around, she might someday see a red moon in her dreams while sleeping.
Thus, by the time Klein saw Neph, she had already stuffed the puppet into the Pure White Space. Meeting his questioning gaze, she nodded slightly and told him, "We can consider it resolved for now."
"For now?" Klein repeated.
"Because I haven't looked into that puppet's origins yet," Neph explained. "Hmm-but I did discover a few things. In a sense, they might answer a question I once had."
"What question?" Klein froze for a moment.
