Desire Apostle
Although Neph had heard plenty about the conditions in Backlund's East Borough, she had never actually encountered anything like them in real life.
When Neph finished her preparations under Klein's guidance and stepped into Backlund's East Borough, the sight still shook her enough to make her briefly falter.
"What's wrong?" Klein looked back at her.
"-Nothing." Neph followed him again, silently turning her gaze away from her left.
There was a girl there who looked even younger than her, yet her belly was swollen, and two little children crowded around her, calling her Mommy.
Klein first took Neph on a walk around the East Borough. Since she had no particular destination in mind, he volunteered to act as her guide:
"Would you like to meet a few people? I happen to know some people here. Maybe talking to them would help you?"
"...No." Neph shook her head, declining the suggestion.
Klein looked a little puzzled. Neph explained quietly, "I'm afraid I won't have the heart for it."
Klein briefly froze. He looked at Neph, and a glassy shimmer passed through the girl's eyes, soft yet tinged with coldness, just like the attitude she had shown.
"Do you really not know how to stop all this?" he couldn't help asking.
Well... how should I put this? It's not really that I don't know. After all, I'm certain that if you became the Lord of the Mysteries right now and said you didn't like things this way, the problem would definitely be solved. Neph sighed and answered, "I'd rather not know-having a completely impossible solution right in front of me only adds to my worries."
"What solution?" Klein pressed.
After a moment of silence, Neph looked away and said coldly, "Go beat up every god in this alliance,
"and prove your strength."
