When Klein heard the first half of Lin Chuan's explanation, he was still rather confused. He did not understand what the number of Beyonders of the Apprentice pathway had to do with how useful their abilities were.
Only after hearing the second half-"in the form of Beyonder Items"-did he finally understand, unsure whether to laugh or cry.
"But that still doesn't make sense." At the same time, a question naturally occurred to Klein. "With the abilities of the Apprentice pathway, even if they can't win a fight, shouldn't they be able to escape?"
"Yes. Once they reach Sequence 5, Traveler, and gain the ability to teleport, you can count on one hand the Beyonders of the same Sequence who can stop them from escaping."
Lin Chuan first acknowledged Klein's reasoning, then added with a smile:
"But who said their opponents had to be at the same Sequence?"
"A Sequence 5 Shepherd can go after a Sequence 6 Scribe, while a Sequence 4 Black Knight can hunt down a Sequence 5 Traveler..."
"It might not come to that with other pathways, but this pathway's Beyonder abilities are so useful that even Beyonders at higher Sequences want them."
"So what else can they do?" Lin Chuan shrugged and quipped casually, "Come chase me, then. Catch me and my life is yours."
'My life is yours' probably meant literally handing it over... Klein wore a peculiar expression. Looked at that way, Beyonders of the Apprentice pathway really did lead troubled lives.
He had a rough idea of what this pathway was like now, but the notion that being too good at staying alive actually made them more likely to die sounded like dark humor no matter how he looked at it.
"By the way..." Having keenly picked up on several unfamiliar Sequence names
