"Charlie, don't get too close to Passion. Go stay at the Church-I don't have the time to deal with Suzanne for you. I'm not your godfather. Besides, I think the Church is always more trustworthy than a gang."
"All right, show him out. Charlie, I've already helped you enough. If you keep trying to get close to this place, you'll only end up hurt and humiliated. It won't do you any more good."
In the dim room, Lumian, dressed entirely in black, spoke calmly to Charlie like a long-established gang godfather.
The room had no windows, only a lamp that gave off a faint glow. Although he had better places to live, Lumian still chose to stay here. He had merely rented a few more rooms on the top floor.
Of course, that didn't stop him from collecting protection money from the hotel's owner. Still, Lumian delivered what he was paid for. At the very least, amid the chaos of the underground streets, members of Passion often patrolled around the Golden Rooster Hotel, occasionally driving off criminals and members of other gangs.
This gave the Golden Rooster Hotel's owner the strange feeling that he was getting more than his money's worth. Business had actually improved considerably.
Charlie opened his mouth, but no words came out. He merely trudged dejectedly toward the door, escorted by the gang member standing behind Lumian.
He kept feeling that a thick barrier had already risen between him and Lumian.
Watching Charlie leave, Lumian silently cursed his stupidity. The Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun has already decided to intervene in the Beyonder incident you encountered and started assessing you. How can you still not see that this is a chance to get out of here?
