"You really do need to leave. We'll stay in Fedoran to deal with the evil that's about to descend..."
Bruce repeated Dusk's words, likewise saying only that evil was descending. Dusk had his reasons for not saying that the God of Fall was descending: the danger posed by the God of Fall was far greater than that of evil and would cause even more panic among the people.
The residents here might not understand the difference between evil and the God of Fall, but as a precaution, they would assume they did.
Once they heard confirmation from an Extraordinary of the Church, the people gathered to watch scattered. Everyone immediately ran home to pack and prepare to leave. Although the Extraordinary had said they could return after dawn, they would probably choose to stay elsewhere for a few extra days, returning only once Fedoran was truly safe.
Of course, among the residents deciding whether to leave Fedoran, there were dissenting voices. Some insisted on staying. Some could not bear to leave their possessions behind, while others were elderly people living alone who had trouble walking. There were all sorts of reasons.
If most of Fedoran's people left, the town should no longer be sufficient as a sacrificial target. And once they killed Faust and banished the God of Fall, the ritual would not affect Fedoran's residents.
To be safe, they should still have everyone in Fedoran leave.
Bruce set down the distraught Blaze.
Blaze stared blankly at his older brother. He could not understand why evil would choose his brother as its host.
"Brother."
Dragging his exhausted body over to Faust, Blaze dropped to his knees before him.
"I'm sorry, brother."
"You silly boy. What nonsense are you talking about?" After learning everything, Faust suddenly felt more at ease.
